Probably The Silence Of The Lambs when I was fifteen. I was very, very stoned and it completely freaked me out.

The only movie to ever properly freak me out was The Blair Witch Project. I had followed the mythos of it all online and went to a midnight screening of it - could not sleep that night.

Yeah, The Blair Witch ruined my shit. I was 10 years old or something. What a great idea that was.

actually I remember this movie being pretty scary, too. Luckily, I remember my grandma forced me and my cousins to turn it off before it could permanently wreck me.malice wrote:the wizard of oz was pretty scary during the flying monkeys scene the first time i saw it.

The Wizard of Oz was fine, but Return to Oz was way too abstract for my child-like mind.

Re: What's the scariest movie you've ever seen?
When I was little I watched Temple of Doom, but when it got to the part where the bad guy rips that dude's heart out, my mom told me to cover my eyes. So I did. All I could hear was the guy screaming and the bad guys chanting. For years afterwords, I watched Temple of Doom often, but never watched that part. By my teens I had built up this scene as the most brutal, repulsive thing ever filmed. Just the idea of this evil monster slowly driving his hand into that poor bastard's heart and then lowering his somehow still breathing body into a lava pit was just too much.
Then in my twenties I finally decided to watch it. What I saw was a hand reaching into a jelly-filled paper mache dummy. It was hilarious and utterly disappointing at the same time.
Moral: You'll never film something as scary as the audience's imagination.

I got dropped off at the bottom of my driveway after watching The Ring with some friends. We had a long driveway, I sprinted the whole way.
But as a kid, I was terrified of Ernest Scared Stupid. Yup.
