You're thinking of Rocky Balboa.

E.H. Ruddock wrote:I can't put them in numerical order, but here are my ten favorite:

The Sun
Bridge on the River Kwai
All Quiet on the Western Front
Apocalypse Now
Das Boot
The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel
Midway
The Guns of Navarone
The Green Zone
Blackhawk Down (these last two movies are ok, but some personal connections for me)

Honorable mentions: Pretty much all WW II movies made in the 40's, 50's, and 60's, We Were Soldiers, Hamburger Hill, The Thin Red Line, Saving Private Ryan, Lone Survivor, The Hurt Locker, many more.

All of these mentioned are top notch. I'd also add Tora! Tora! Tora! and Platoon. For some reason, Platoon seems to be trapped in '80s Oliver Stone nostalgia. I still dig it.

Disagree. It would have been on my list if it did, though.

I would like to hear arguments for and against its inclusion here.

It's a black comedy about the political intrigue leading up to war. But there's no actual war in it, really.

isn't intrigue a part of war? Also, isn't a pretty substantial weapon of war used at the end?

I mean, there's also very little war in The Great Escape. You could argue that is a prison movie not a war movie.

That's literally the last scene of the movie.

Yeah, but it takes place during the war. I think my issue with Strangelove is that it takes place before the war actually breaks out.

What are you talking about? The cold war was well underway at the start of Strangelove.

The intrigue in Strangelove wasn't taking place during a period of peace that led up to an act of war, it was taking place during a war that led up to a drastic escalation of that war.
