I wasn't talking about his vocals. I was talking about his general attitude.durdencommatyler wrote:What's an example you'd cite as completely twatty Lennon vocals?

Of course, Wendy Carlos' Twin keeps on omitting that sad episode when McCartney ate his wife's leg

"Monkberry Moon Delight" is probably my favorite McCartney vocal -- he had a beautiful voice, yes, but he could howl too.durdencommatyler wrote:Well, no. I mean McCartney has a beautiful voice. Obviously the dude can sing. But he doesn't have that kind of raw passion, that bare nakedness and vulnerability that Lennon had. Lennon cuts your soul in half when he sings Don't Let Me Down. He ripples flesh when he sings Across the Universe. He makes you feel drunk and exhausted when he sings I'm So Tired. I don't know. He just moves me deeply when he sings. McCartney hasn't ever really moved me like that with his vocal performance. I love his voice. But it doesn't move and twitch and bewitch the way Lennon's did.Farmer John wrote:So would I if I had to choose. You are right about "Twist and Shout," though -- that's pretty tough to match as far as rock singing goes.

Monkberry Moon Delight is an excellent song indeed. That guy always floors me with his vocal ad-libbings - Hey Jude being the original template for this, i guess. Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five is also pretty great.

Re: Lennon or McCartney
Monkberry is one of my all time favorite McCartney tunes. That and Helter Skelter. Yeah, boy could wail and I LOVE that he did from time to time. But Lennon was more authentic and heartfelt in his wail. Whereas, I think McCartney was doing his best Lennon impression when he wailed.Kevin Davis wrote:"Monkberry Moon Delight" is probably my favorite McCartney vocal -- he had a beautiful voice, yes, but he could howl too.durdencommatyler wrote:Well, no. I feel bad having to defend Lennon in spite of McCartney. I LOVE them both and feel blessed that we had them both. Picking sides feels wrong sometimes.

Re: Lennon or McCartney
Also, Why Don't We Do It In the Road, which a lot of people (for some reason) think is Lennon. But its McCartney. But again would he have tackled that without Lennon? Maybe not. The world is better off for having both of them.durdencommatyler wrote:Monkberry is one of my all time favorite McCartney tunes. That and Helter Skelter.
