Moonlander - Stone Gossard

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

OK - that was actually pretty good!

Yeah, I dug it. Not mind blowingly amazing but very enjoyable for sure.

Okay, things are looking up. Step 2: if you like Neil Young, you'll like...

I've said it once (I think). But I'll say it again.

Fits would have been an awesome pearl jam song. It's pretty great even without Ed singing.

Could definitely hear him singing it though.

Funny, a live version of this played with Brad in Europe this year popped up on You Tube after I watched the first video. It was good.

Musically I liked that one heaps more - the vocal delivery....not so much

Bayleaf is so underrated. Its probably mostly due to the fact Stone doesn't have a compelling voice. The songs are top notch though....and it really makes you wonder if the Supersonic toss offs he brings in are really just a Stone Gossard :finger: to the band's records.

I think stones voice is compelling but it kind of falls i line with a lot of my favorite songwriters. Whereas the voice is not the focal point but rather a vehicle to push forth the awesome song writing.

Im surprised some of you idiots haven't heard Bayleaf. That is a legit album.

google translate:
Stone Gossard, guitarist and founder of Pearl Jam, talks about hard-to-ground

When you go cover a festival the size of Lollapalooza, unexpected things happen throughout the day. On Sunday, after talking Marcelo D2 and BNegão on the show that would make Planet Hemp in the event (they also told EU partners that will burn a DVD in Sao Paulo on June 14), the press office staff picked me up in the room interviews and took me - a golf cart - to speak with guitarist (and founder) of Pearl Jam, Stone Gossard. He had requested this interview, but I could not refuse the proposal of the musician, who wanted to enjoy the passage by St. Paul to talk about his second solo disc, Moonlander - scheduled for release on June 25. While not quite Gossard, entered a small room and hear firsthand two songs from the album: I Need Something Different and Moon Landing. Clearly The first could be on a hard Pearl Jam, while the second carries the distortions in hand. After the hearing, hopefully for a long time. Curiosity: the dressing room of the Seattle band was great and divided by rooms. In a sort of hall, there was fruit on the table, and hanging signs in English at each port. They signaled the separate place for staff, family, banda ....

With nerdy appearance and plaid flannel shirt, Stone Gossard appeared discreetly in the hall. No speck of rock star, invited us to enter one of salinhas. Check out the conversation:

When you get time to work on hard-ground?

Actually, I can not take the time to create a unique album, but never stop producing. I selected several songs and assemble affinity to realize that there was a disk. Has song that was made in 2003, but also includes material that appeared in the last six months. I'm happy to have finished. I want to see if people will like.

I Need Something Different could be a song by Pearl Jam. How do you separate the tracks going into the solo career and that will be written by Pearl Jam?

I do a lot of songs, but you can not push everything to the banda. I would be if I got a boring guy talking to others: 'Look what I did this song, and now look at this, let's record this too?'. As we all write, we need to divide the repertoire with others. Sometimes you can only include two of his compositions in a disk of banda. Therefore, the soil is important. It's a way to shed light on cool stuff of my own.

The name of the song I Need Something Different is funny. It's a message to yourself?

The song title came actually from the way she was made. I was listening to the sound of the bass and drums in a loop, so I began writing what was on my mind. Generally, this is not my case, but I thought 'wake up and do something.' It's good to abandon our foibles. By the way, who played drums in that band was Matt Chamberlain, who played with Pearl Jam long ago.

You want to go on tour with this material?

Maybe do something specific. I mean, if fans love the hard and get in the door of my house screaming, I might even go on tour (laughs). No kidding, I have a family and want to spend more time at home.

Great news that Chamberlain is back on drums (at least for some of the album.)
