Re: All-Time Franchise Baseball Tournament: RED SOX WIN IT A
We're gonna do another Franchise one after the 2015 season ends, but in the meantime we're gonna do some era ones like our first one (The Post-Strike Baseball Tournament). Our next one is gonna be the LCS Era (1969-1994). Since it involves a draft, that might be slightly time consuming for a few days, but once the season starts it's pretty much as time consuming as you'd like. Some people are very hands on with their teams and do a lot of tinkering/overhauls/etc., and some people set a default rotation and lineup and just roll with. It's fun though. If you have any interest you should definitely join the next one. Hopefully we'll get it rolling sometime after the holidays.PHATJ wrote:I saw this thread for the first time today. It looks like an awesome idea and I want in on future plans. What was the time commitment like for everyone? If I can make it work I want to play in the next season.

Thanks man. I'll try to remember to check back with the thread. I'm not in the habit of checking the sports forum. I'm definitely interested. Anyone can pm me a reminder when this gets closer too. I'd probably play if I can assure I'll have time.Lament wrote:We're gonna do another Franchise one after the 2015 season ends, but in the meantime we're gonna do some era ones like our first one (The Post-Strike Baseball Tournament). I worked on a lot of music, which was nice. I got to go to the Packers-Bucs game as an early Christmas present, which was awesome. I took a second job, so I've been working a lot (especially between all of the extra nights I had to take at the club the past few weeks). Today was a rare day off and I'm too sick to do anything fun with it, but it comes with the territory I suppose.
How about yourself?

I just hung out with my family. I went to a bar New Years Eve and it didn't suck, which was a huge surprise.
You stuck in Orlando now for the time being or are you venturing out again any time soon? I know sometimes you go to Tampa and sometimes you even leave the state entirely.

I'm still in Orlando. I bounce over to Tampa to visit my parents and my brother now and then, but I've been spending like 90% of my time in Orlando for the past few months. I'm trying to find a new apartment/room to rent down here. If I can find one by the time spring training starts, you guys are invited to come crash with me if you want to check some Grapefruit League. The Braves are right down the street from me, and the Astros are like 20 minutes away as well. The Tigers are also within 45 minutes of me.
I desperately want to take an out-of-state venture, but I feel like I'll end up waiting till late spring just because most of the places I'd want to go visit are gonna be bitterly cold for the immediate future. I was getting ready a few months ago to start looking for a new place to move, but now I kinda want to see how this new music project I've put together pans out.

I was thinking about that the other day. Not getting one out before Christmas makes me feel like a failure on a Pearl Jam-esque level. I set down at one point to record one, but then I met this girl that is singing with me now and I thought, "I'll put it off a bit so that she can be on the recording and make it actually worth listening to."

I was disappointed that where each new Hall of Famer was drafted in the Post-Strike Baseball Tournament draft wasn't more prominently featured among their list of qualifications for the Hall.
(For what it's worth, Pedro was #2, Randy #4, Smoltz #14, and Biggio #28)

LCS era should be a harder draft for me, I didn't start watching beisbol until 91/92.
