BadMusic, right? You're definitely BadMusic.

I'd wondered if it was too.

also, the live in studio thing already sorta happened on Riot Act, no? At least loosely, especially on Save You, and with it being their "anti-pro tracks album."

Yeah, to an extent. I think some of the songs were recorded in a more piecemeal fashion, Green Disease and You Are for sure, but quite a lot the band tracks for the rest of the album were recorded more or less live in the room.

If they produced something comparable to Riot Act I would be ecstatic.

I will co-sign this. Riot Act was the last album that didn't sound poorly produced to my ears. The band sounded much more organic then..self titled is too modern rock radio and Backspacer is way overporduced (speed of sound anyone?). If they can make an album that caters to their strengths musically at this stage of their careers that also SOUNDS good then I will be happy. The great songs probably won't be there....but there are some pretty simple decisions they can make to put out something we can all actually enjoy this time around.

The only thing making me doubt it's him is that he's not spacing his punctuation as the French do.

I think you're missing my point. Maybe they are pushing YOUR envelope, maybe that's what they are trying to do. Maybe they are sick of b-side/rarity-obsessed entitled fans who think they can press "play" on the band and get what they want. I think ultimately they may want to feel free. They aren't trapped by the mainstream right now that's for sure, if they feel trapped by anyone it's the hardcore fans. Just like they were sick of stagnating in the mainstram way back when, maybe they are sick of stagnating within the current fanbase. I personally just love it when a rock band fucks shit up.
LOL

They're pushing my envelope so much that I've stopped listening to them and moved on to bands that actually excite me.
so it's the jamily that keeps you posting on RM, then?

Meh. There's more bleed on a lot of the Vitalogy and No Code tracks than there is on Riot Act. Being an anti protools album just means they didn't do a lot in post to clean/effect/tune.

My bet is that a lot of the basic tracks were cut live, with plenty of "I want to redo my guitar," or "I'm gonna take another stab at that drum fill" stuff later, plus overdubs (most of the vocals sound like they were done in total isolation). A nice, organic way of recording...but pretty not quite "cut live in studio."

must be a euro thing - i don't do this. (i don't use capital letters often either but that's mostly due to laziness).

If only. I'd love to see Pj in New Orleans. Always wanted to go there. It'd definitely be a goer if we knew there'd be new songs getting payed.
