in fairness i hadnt heard Moline when i wrote that and the expectation of a No Code show conjures all this magic. which wasnt there on the night but would have been except Stone is all over the place

Geez dime!

It's almost as though...
dimejinky99 wrote:you continuously forget these arent albums..they are live performances. There will be mistakes. I'm sure there are bands who are note perfect every night, i'm saying i don't think it's an awful gig or pearl jam are shit, for still playing in the moment. It means nothing but good things that their show has managed to keep its human element. Give it their all, play from the heart. Oh shit Mike fucked up a note or ed forgot a lyric...theyve clearly lost it.....seriously?

thats gonna ruin a show for you?

if so, you probably need to stop listening on such a aspergic level and just enjoy it..we were not there. We dont know how good it was.
;)

Ps..you have all this time to dig that up AND have time to have kids!?!?!
im jealous :)

It was only two posts, one of which was on the previous page. It wasn't that difficult.

I finally got around to listening to this show. It's pretty fun, the version of Mind Your Manners was excellent too.

Possibly the best verision of fucking up the band has played in the last 15 years or so. And habit is just fucking crazy.

man, eddie vedder is such a dork now. its like, stop trying to bruce springsteen already. outside of forgetting some lyrics, he sounds pretty good here though. i thought it was funny he had to BS with the crowd b/c jeff started playing 'in my tree' before 'who you are'. 'in my tree' is so good, it should have been a single.

I was thinking that Jeff Ament was like "dude, cameron, come on, same beat for both songs. Grow up"

At the beginning of this video is an instrumental piece that sounds like it was recorded live. It feels like I should know this, but what is that from?

Just listened to the whole No Code portion of that show. Really enjoyed that. "Habit" kicked ass.

Two nitpicks
Spoiler: show
- It's been said a million times before that this band plays too fast, but Mike speeding through "Present Tense" really robbed that guitar line of a lot of its beauty. Still love that song.
- Guitars. "Hail Hail" needs to be louder and dirtier. The performance is good but that guitar sound is feeble.

Agreed! Sometimes, Smile, Red Mosquito and Around the Bend were all highlights as well. I just picked this up last night so I'm only about half way through but the whole show in general seems to have some great energy.

I just re-listened to Moline over the last few days in my car. It's a truly epic show.
Even the old standards are well done. I particularly liked the 1st encore, this was a great run...

'fun' fact: in hiding has only ever been played in an encore twice: winnipeg 2005 and moline.

i liked the songs at the end of the main set - brain of j, infallible, even flow, gone, and motherfucking garden - that they largely came up with on the fly as ed realized they'd be short if they played the written set as is. it was a unique experience to see them operating that way knowing that 95% of their shows these days are planned out.

Agreed. I was at both. Milwaukee was like when you go on a vacation that was awesome and you try to recreate it. Crossing Strangest Tribe off the setlist didn't help.

Everyone but Ed looks thoroughly bored.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
