i think linklater's filmography is legitimately one of the most interesting and under-appreciated in u.s. cinema since the 80s, and Boyhood is the high point with his interest in time, film, artifice and representation. i really admire him.

We vastly disagree here. I think his obsession with time is appealing and deep in a purely quasi sense, and more often than not it becomes annoying. I found Boyhood appalling on every level, from its stilted surface to its oblivious sociopolitical core.

Oh, it's definitely hagiographic, but I just love listening to Jodorowsky talk. A lot of what he's saying is probably unattainable lunacy, but his passion is infectious. I found it entertaining.

Sure, I'll give him props for his dedication. Takes some balls to make a movie with that kind of long-term filming schedule. Though realistically I think more credit is due to his producers.
