little secrets, tremors turned to quake
PJ fans, I need your help: I heard a PJ bootleg with a cover of STP Plush once long ago (yes, probly partly to make fun of the incessant mix up back then) – but they CRUSHED it, better than STP, and the reason why is because with 2 guitarists I remember they were able to really play the add’l guitar parts live - for many years I have been dying to find this rendition, without success - to hear it again and just to verify I didn’t imagine it.
Has anyone else heard this bootleg cover, and does anyone have a copy? Thanks a lot! I’m just talkin’ bout Dirty Frank

Re: Long Lost Cover from a Bootleg
I've been listening to Pearl Jam's live recordings for years and I've never heard it nor heard of it.
It doesn't strike me as the kind of song they'd play, even in jest, and certainly not to the point of trying to seriously recreate the original song's guitar arrangement.
If it existed at all, it seems much more likely to me that it was some other band's song mislabeled as Pearl Jam (as happened frequently in the old LimeWire/Napster days - "Alone feat. Layne Staley" anyone?)
The closest analogue I can think of would be the tease of Smells Like Teen Spirit they threw in before Porch at the New Year's Eve 1991 show where they supported Nirvana and RHCP:

I remember downloading a track from Limewire (or was it BearShare?) back in the day labelled 'Pearl Jam - Plush (STP cover)'. Turned out to just be a live version by STP. That was probably what you heard as IMO there is no way PJ would have ever actually covered it...

Yup. I had this too. It certainly wasn't PJ.ridleybradout wrote:I remember downloading a track from Limewire (or was it BearShare?) back in the day labelled 'Pearl Jam - Plush (STP cover)'.
