Re: Rank The Pearl Jam Catalog
I fully admit that things like Pry, To and Red Dot and those "filler" tracks should be ranked lower. Because Habit is better than those things. But I enjoy listening to those more, so Habit hits last.

In My Tree, Black, Hard to Imagine and Immortality are always in my top 5. No matter how or when I calculate this list. I must really adore those songs.

Seriously, "Habit" is great. One of my favorite No Code songs.

Habit is the piece of crap that the pearl of No Code forms around.

I really don't get it. What is it about "Habit" you find so disagreeable? The roughness of Eddie's voice?

Ed's voice is one of the few things I appreciate about Habit.

Re: Rank The Pearl Jam Catalog
I don't like anything about it except Ed's delivery. It's grating and unrewarding. It's boring and shopworn. It's aggressive yet meandering. Nothing engaging about the arrangement or lyrics. There's an attempt at some kind of teeth grinding, manic energy, but it all comes off whiny and underwater sounding.
Removing it makes No Code a better record. It doesn't add anything to album, but instead halts a pretty fantastic momentum.

"Underwater-sounding"?
"Habit" is a fantastic song.

Re: Rank The Pearl Jam Catalog
I'm kind of in the middle here. I'm not a huge fan of the way Ed sounds on Habit in the studio, but I love the live versions. I feel kinda the same way about Grievance.
