It's just there for padding. It's a shambles of a film from about halfway to the end.
Birdman or Budapest will never win, though they deserve to.

Oscars are for movies like Sniper or Selma or Imitation Game. They seem to get more conservative every year. At this point the Oscar bait formula is so predictable these movies are no better than summer blockbusters.
Selma wasn't even nominated.

probably because of the cast that more recognizable to most people
the royal tennenbaums, life aquatic, and darjeeling limited all had incredibly recognizable casts...grand budapest just had a few more stars total

What would be the perfect Oscar bait movie?

American Duty - After returning from the Vietnam War, a disabled, black, lesbian (played by Robin Williams) overcomes the odds, and every -ist and -ism to win the Heavyweight Boxing Championship belt, then promptly dies of AIDS.

I thought so. I had to double check that and the first article that popped up was "Selma snubbed" even though it was nominated.

This is worse than when I thought there already was a Star Wars episode 7.

my suggested course of action is this: act like selma, and other similar bland oscar-bait films, are so boring that you can't even notice them when they're in a list. that seems like the best play.
