It's hilarious that more often than not when Ed is pictured at baseball games he's wearing one of the replica batting helmets (meant either for children or to serve popcorn or ice cream out of) instead of a baseball cap.

I wonder if he rinses them off after he finishes the popcorn or ice cream, or if he just pops that sucker right on when he finishes eating.

Those clearly aren't the ice cream ones.TouringReg wrote:It's hilarious that more often than not when Ed is pictured at baseball games he's wearing one of the replica batting helmets (meant either for children or to serve popcorn or ice cream out of) instead of a baseball cap.
C'mon RM! We have enough legit material to choose from. Don't start stretching.

At baseball games you CAN in fact get ice cream out of those full sized helmets. They give you two spoons but I once watched someone eat the whole thing without sharing (if you really want to see I can PM you a picture).CopperTom wrote:Those clearly aren't the ice cream ones.TouringReg wrote:It's hilarious that more often than not when Ed is pictured at baseball games he's wearing one of the replica batting helmets (meant either for children or to serve popcorn or ice cream out of) instead of a baseball cap.

I do recall there were smaller ones in the 90s Dairy Queen used to sell with sundaes in them.
My initial point was, it's hilarious a grown man is wearing a plastic replica helmet as opposed to a baseball hat.

My 10C membership is due to renew in two days. Should I keep giving them my money?

having said that, they do have a reputation for being pretty generous with this stuff. I know that's less fun then ragging on them for no good reason though, so carry on.darth_vedder wrote:Yup.@SkitchP wrote:yeah. the "portion of the proceeds" charity things are pretty bullshit more often than not. That's the only reason I always pony up. I let it lapse once about 6 or 7 years ago, and they reinstated my number. I've had it since '95.CopperTom wrote:If your 10c# is better than mine, no.hlniv wrote:My 10C membership is due to renew in two days. Should I keep giving them my money?
But, I'm really not so sure what it does for me anymore? I guess I got decent seats at the St. Louis show, but that's only because I got shut out of GA at both Cincy and St. Louis. And that has nothing to do with my #

If they said "all profits" i'd feel better about it. Even if the percentage is high, they're still using the "charity" element as advertising. This complaint isn't pearl jam specific.

haha. I've got one of those lower numbers as well and it hasn't done shit for me in a long time. I'm yet to win reserved seating and only got ga once out of my many attempts at tickets. However, at $20 a year I just can't let it go. Someday its got to come in handy again, I hopehlniv wrote:hlniv wrote:That's the only reason I always pony up. Re: Post-Riot Act Moneygrab
FWIW....I let my membership lapse this go-round after 16 years.
It's less of a money-saving thing, and more of a "I'm not giving these people any more money." It was basically $40 for the vinyl. My 10c seats weren't all that great and I did not like the sign up for as many shows as you can and hope you get lucky thing. I put in for two shows hoping to get one...I got both (not a bad problem to have), but I didn't really want to go to two shows. It was fun, but not worth it.
Again, for what it's worth.

Re: Post-Riot Act Moneygrab
Yeah, the "access to 10c seats" is a total scam. Especially when you are living somewhere that's a popular destination for shows. I've paid $40/year, and they play here - what - every 4 years?YessCode2 wrote:FWIW....I let my membership lapse this go-round after 16 years.

I guess I could have access to South American tickets if I wanted to foot the airline price for a flight to Brazil

That's exactly what I was going to do (same exact reasoning) this year after 19 years, but it snuck up on me and auto-renewed.YessCode2 wrote:FWIW....I let my membership lapse this go-round after 16 years.

Having worked inside and outside charities, it's fairly difficult to ensure all profits go to the charity. The best charities have some type of ratio that maximizes the giving against the overhead costs.@SkitchP wrote:stip wrote:having said that, they do have a reputation for being pretty generous with this stuff. I have no problem with this effort by Pearl Jam. It's their favorite team and they are back in the SB, and they have a knack for creating some really cool sports themed shirts. And if a portion of that effort goes to charity, all the better.
