Yeah, The Hobbit movies kind of start looking depressingly shitty after going back and rewatching LOTR. I still like them, but...

Saw this today. Entertaining enough but that scene with Legolas and the falling blocks was the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Yeah, that was definitely pushing it. Though probably no more than the barrel fight in Desolation.

I never ended up seeing this movie. I think I might just wait until it's out on Blu-Ray.

well the dvd release of BOTFA wont be for a few months yet, so this will do for me...

Tauriel has been edited completely :)

—The investigation of Dol Guldor has been completely excised, including the appearances of Radagast, Saruman and Galadriel.
—The Tauriel-Legolas-Kili love triangle has also been removed. Indeed, Tauriel is no longer a character in the film, and Legolas only gets a brief cameo during the Mirkwood arrest.
—The Pale Orc subplot is vastly trimmed down. Azog is obviously still leading the attack on the Lonely Mountain at the end, but he does not appear in the film until after the company escapes the goblin tunnels.
—Several of the Laketown scenes have been cut, such as Bards imprisonment and the superfluous orc raid.
—The prelude with old Bilbo is gone. Instead, the film opens with Gandalfs curious arrival. Its more quaint, more subtle, more Hobbity.
—Several of the orc skirmishes have been cut in order to give the final battle more impact.
—Several of the action scenes have been tightened up, such as the barrel-ride, the fight between Smaug and the dwarves (no molten gold in this version), and the Battle of the Five Armies.
—A lot of filler scenes have been cut as well (e.g. the 4-minute scene where Bard buys some fish and the dwarves gather up his pay).

That's stupid, Tauriel is one of my favorite characters. And the Dol Guldur scenes are some of the best stuff in there. So is the Azog stuff. Stupid.

Rank the things that suck about Jackson's hobbit:

0: those goddamned eagles
1: azog
2: legolas
3: barrel rides
4: tauriel / kili
5: dol guldur
6: the third movie in its entirety

1. CGI
2. CGI
3. CGI
4. Score is weak
5. Romance not developed enough
6. A little too heavy on the goofy humor
7. 2 and 3 are too short
