Anyone posting here has likely watched a lot of football in their lifetime.
I think it's fair to say that you've never seen anything like that before. Perhaps the most unbelievable comeback/turnaround/win of all time.
Funny side note - not only did the Seahawk fans who left early not get back into the stadium, but all the local bars were packed (pun intended) and they couldn't get in anywhere. So not only did they miss it live, but had no place to see the end and were stuck out in the pissing rain. Ha.
It was a great comeback, but I also saw Houston blow a 35-3 halftime lead in the playoffs which I think was better.
FRANK REICH
Bigger comeback? Yes.
More improbable? No.
Think about the probability of any of those individual things working...and then the probability of all of them happening in the same game. Overcoming 5 turnovers, fake field goal TD, onside kick, wounded duck 2-pt conversion pass, winning the OT coin toss, only 6 points scored off those 5 turnovers, goal line stand, etc.
I haven't seen the overhead shot of it yet, but when GB intercepted a pass at about the 5 minute mark the defender could have had a huge return, maybe even a TD, certainly to (near) field goal range. Instead he took a knee and Seattle got the ball back. That was a HUGE play and it indicated that GB considered the game was over, Seattle was still ready to fight to the whistle.
I will be forever grateful for the "Discount Double-Choke" and never-give-up attitude of the Seahawks. What a fucking incredible game.
I read that late in the game, one of the big Vegas casinos (MGM Grand?) took four separate six-figure bets for the Seahawks to win. At the time the odds had grown to like 30-1. MGM paid out all four. Conceivably each bet was $100,000 at a minimum and the payout was $3,000,000 each at a minimum. Wow.
Everything had to go right in the final 5 minutes in regulation and a couple minutes in overtime to overcome a 12 point deficit.
In the Houston game, everything had to go right for an entire half to overcome a 32 point deficit! It's not even close.
Yeah, the two comebacks aren't even close. Bammer's just being a homer.
Ha!
In one game: One team dominated the other in the first half...then they reversed roles in the second half. It's happened many times before. Not to the Frank Reich scale of course, but it's happened and it took place over the course of the entire half.
The other game: Featured a ridiculously frantic last few minutes and I would venture that never before have the odds been so stacked against one team, statistically speaking, with so little time left...never before...in a postseason game. Maybe you just have to be a Seattle fan to truly enjoy it to the fullest extent. Nothing going right all damn day, and then BAM with 3 minutes left a total miracle unfolds before your eyes.
Baseball equivalent...just throwing out random numbers: Game 1 equivalent to being down 20 runs with 5 innings left to come back. Game 2 equivalent to being down 10 runs with 2 outs in the 9th and bases empty? Is that a fair comparison?
Exactly. What took Buffalo a 1/2 to accomplish, took, as you said, Seattle a couple of minutes. Not even close.
What you're trying to do is not going to work.
Seattle held GB to two field goals throughout the entire second half. It's not like they were just sitting around waiting for the clock to reach 3 minutes. It took an entire half to accomplish keeping the game within reach on defense.

I know that the Buffalo-Houston game was a bigger comeback, but once Buffalo got rolling in the second half, it was pretty clear that game was gonna be close. Whereas, Seattle didn't seem to have a shot in hell with 5 minutes remaining.
The Seahawks fans I know (other than Bammer) are ridiculously mellow. In general, I find fans of West Coast teams to be far less "fanatical" than midwest and East Coast fans. With the possible exception of Raiders fans.
The more I am thinking about his, I dont think there was a point in that game where I didn't think it was going to end up a close game that could have gone either way. The onside kick is a low probability play, but is recovered enough of the time that it's by no means surprising. Same with the fake field goal.
and lol@ including "winning the overtime coin toss" as part of the miracle list.
I would guess that about 90% of people (including myself) watching that game thought Buffalo would win going into the 4th quarter. The score was 31-35 and everything was going Buffalo's way.

Yeah, but in that game there were points where it felt like Buffalo wasn't going to win, or even be in the game. I never had the sense that Seattle was "out of it", and especially not to the same level as Buffalo was at the half.

I never felt that either. 12 points is only 2 TDs and that can be made up in under a minute and is done quite often.
It was an absolutely amazing and thrilling comeback and one I'll enjoy for a very long time as a Bears fan
I like the point Sherman was making regarding the NFL threatening to suspend Lynch for wearing gold cleats but will most likely do nothing about Patriots cheating. Goodell is just so lost when it comes to discipline.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
