The dog collars are comically lame and comically expensive (although, I am certain that the 10C knows exactly how many fans have the money and interest to buy these things and have commissioned exactly enough to meet that demand), but I don't view them as a sign that Pearl Jam has "gone corporate" and is trying to bleed every last dollar out of their fans. If you're going to bleed your fans, you have to produce something that a large number of fans, including lukewarm fans, will buy. This is not that product, and there is no way in hell that anyone at the Ten Club thinks it is.
If anyone says they are corporate sellouts because of dog collars, they are crazy. But the accumulation of things over time make me wonder..

Another 10C print with stickers? I'm 35 years old, what the fuck am I supposed to do with all these stickers? And again, they don't even say "Pearl Jam" on them.
this is what i dont get. I dont want anything with 10 Club on it. Its so weird. The name itself is barely even Pearl Jam related. Why would anyone want this? Does any other fanclub do this?

I was in the REM fan club until they quit. They gave out some cool stuff over the years, and they never, ever made anything that said REM Fan Club on it besides the xmas single. They always gave out interesting and useful things. Nothing earth shattering, but we got posters, autographed publicity photos, bookmarks, magnets, coasters, a book, postcards, cds, dvds, even vhs videos back in the day. One time they cut up some film from a movie that Michael Stipe shot and sent everyone six frames. And they sent out a few newsletters each year, the xmas single was always there before xmas (along with the little trinkets), and we still got first shot at concert tickets (although there was no such thing as seniority). I miss that. I don't care how old I get, it was great while it lasted. Oh and it never went up from the $10 a year price it started at.

Dave Matthews Band "Warehouse" does, a little...at least, I got a pewter keychain that says "Warehouse" on it. But it has engraved artwork designed by Dave Matthews, and it's at least a metal keychain not a stupid sticker. Seriously, with the price of the fan club, most of the members are ADULTS, what's an adult going to do with a sticker let alone an entire sheet of them?! The one thing they COULD do, have a contest for creative placement of the schwag to win a significantly cool/rare prize, has not happened to my knowledge.

Being in the DMB fan club as a DMB fan is WAAAAY cooler than being in the PJ fan club as a PJ fan, I'd say. The downside to the Warehouse compared to Ten Club was the price but now they are equal. Ticketing system is far superior, even though my seats have been less good (but I also have 4 years of tenure vs. 10 in Ten Club, and quite frankly there are more DMB fans at this juncture). I get a live EP CD every year instead of a 45.

The thing that DMB does far and away better than Pearl Jam/Ten Club is their live releases. EVERY new show put out has INCREDIBLE sound quality and mix. But then they have multiple tiers of live recordings:

-Official release (in stores) every couple of years, also downloads available
-Live Trax, a handful per year, usually one or two per tour and something from the past, mail order CD or download
-DMBLive, download only, lots of old stuff and some newer stuff

It's simply incomprehensible to me how little official live material the top 5 rock bands of the 90's have out...I'm talking Pearl Jam/Nirvana/Soundgarden/Alice In Chains/Smashing Pumpkins. All of these guys were KILLER live almost all the time, certainly have plenty of it in the vaults, and almost none of it is getting released.

I can't speak to the last three bands on that list, but I'm not sure how much more you want from the first two. Nirvana was only around for six years, so I think five (MTV Unplugged, Live! Tonight! Sold Out!!, From The Muddy Banks of the Wishkah, Live At Reading, Live At The Paramount) seems like a reasonable number of live releases (not the mention the DVD from With The Lights Out is basically all live material).

As for Pearl Jam, even if you disregard the hundreds of releases in the Official Bootlegs Series you've still got...

Live On Two Legs, Touring Band 2000, Live At the Showbox, Live At the Garden, Live At Benaroya Hall, Live At Easy Street, Live At the Gorge 05/06, Immagine in Cornice, and Live On Ten Legs. That's nine right right there. Add in Dissident/Atlanta '94, Live In NYC 12/31/92, Live at Lollapalooza, MTV Unplugged, Drop In The Park, and Live At the Orpheum and you're up to fifteen live releases spanning the first twenty years of the band. That seems pretty sufficient to me. I mean, I understand wanting more, but that's hardly an "incomprehensible" lack of live releases. They've released far more live material in their first twenty years than The Who, The Stones, Springsteen, U2, Neil Young, REM, or countless other bands with sparkling live reputations.

I am just catching up so I missed the fiery discussion on the dog collars and the PJ corporation, but I will say this...

I think it is absolutely laughable that this band wrote and performed Soon Forget, lambasting Bill Gates and others obsessed with money (the Bill Gates mask was a nice touch live, too). Yet here we are, Bill Gates and his foundation are doing impressive philanthropy work and this stupid band is doing whatever it can to make money off its rabid (if not mindless) fan base.

It is really sad that we are in an age now when you look up to Kid Rock to see how musicians should be treating their fans: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/kid-rock- ... QApSDQtDMD. I could have sworn back in the 90's that this would be Pearl Jam doing this at this point in their careers.

I dont like the misconception that Pearl Jam rallied against rich people (the bill gates thing aside). They rallied against the people who took from others to make themselves rich and in turned did little to no good with it.

PJ does good with their money and various organizations. Plenty of philanthropic work.

Yes, their hocking merch is laughable but.....

I meant the stuff FROM the 1990's. There's ONE complete show out of what you listed, 12/31/92, and that's essentially a glorified bootleg.

I'm getting a 7" record and opportunity to buy good tickets... and I've been in it since I was 16 so I figure why stop now?
I'm not in it to get free stickers. Seems pretty straight forward.
