I can't wait to hear QotSA cover Price Tag.

For real though, the deluxe box is very nice. And the album is ridiculous.

I think Zeb would explode if this happened.

If that song wasn't inspired a little by Homme, I'd be a fool.

Hey Darling's chorus sounds like the Lita Ford song. I can't stop singing "went to a party last Saturday night..." every time I hear it.

I think it improves significantly during its second half; 1-5 are fine but rather unremarkable. The sequencing on the album seems a little strange in that respect.

I dunno. I've only listened to it a few times so far, so maybe I need to let sit for a while. But right now I'd say it's pretty good but very likely the band's weakest album.

im the total opposite, 1-5 are killer, 6-10 not as much (although I do really like Bury My Friends and Fade)
2nd half just doesnt have enough Carrie for me.
I've always greatly preferred Corin's vocals, which probably explains our difference of opinion.

I noticed/thought that too.

I still dont think anything on this album is better than Jumpers or Entertain, BUT, after a 10 year break, and following up the Woods? FUCK this is a damn good album! Better than every Pearl Jam album that was released between The Woods and now? I say yes

I finally got a chance to sit down with my deluxe LP which arrived this week (only a day after release day from the UK - colour me impressed WhatRecords :nice: ).

Listening while following the lyrics has taken this album to a whole new level, so much gold in there and such a cohesive eloquent theme. As Janet said in that Broad City interview "it's even better than I thought!"

I've only listened to the bonus tracks a couple of times but I think they definitely made the right call not including them - they're great but just don't match the flawless quality of the ten album tracks.

I love that it's only 32 minutes long - it's such a lean muscle of an album and perfect for most of the drives I do - Side A on the way there, Side B on the way back :bammer:

Best I could work it with the other 2 songs (for now anyway)
I wasnt crazy about Price Tag as the opener and I like Bury Our Friends / No Cities To Love back to back for some reason, and wanted to put the 2 unreleased tracks back to back so... a lil bit of a re-ordering.

A New Wave
Bury Our Friends
No Cities To Love
Fangless
No Anthem
Gimmie Love
Fog and the Filty Air
Heavy When I Want It
Price Tag
Surface Envy
Hey Darlin
Fade

I'm gonna try listening to it this way. The sequencing is really throwing me off. And I agree that "Price Tag" doesn't really work as an opener.

I think it may be inches behind The Fox and Dig Me Out as their best record opener.

And just heard the b-sides for the first time; "Heavy When I Need It" is fucking great.

Well, that's the thing with this band...saying it's the third best doesn't mean there's anything at all wrong with the other five. All their openers, barring maybe Don't Think You Wanna, are uniformly excellent and one of the best tracks on their respective records.

Price Tag is clearly an excellent opener.

Neither of the B-sides belong anywhere near this record.
