My wife's starting to push for us to buy a house, but I really don't want to own a house in Illinois.

Alright. Are you buying the heater from them? What's the price of the heater?bodysnatcher wrote:i would guarantee screw it upSelf wrote:Whatever they quoted you, you're being raped. Do it yourself.

My dad was a plumber. The markup he'd put on water heaters was pretty ridiculous.Self wrote:Alright. Are you buying the heater from them? What's the price of the heater?bodysnatcher wrote:i would guarantee screw it upSelf wrote:Whatever they quoted you, you're being raped. Do it yourself.

Yeah, the heater would be purchased through this particular plumber i spoke with today... quoted around $1400. i know it's steep, but just trying to get an ideaSelf wrote:Alright. Time is money guys. There's no way I'd spend a day or more installing a water heater when I can pay someone else (despite the markup) to do it for me and lug my old one away. Not a chance.

Unless it's basic crap like changing outlets or switches, when it comes to electrical work I'll pay the pros. Especially when it's mixing electricity and water.

3 wires, two water connections. Adding in the time it takes to drain the old one, done in a half hour. Time is money.Chris_H_2 wrote:Time is money guys. Completing redoing our master bathroom next month. It is only about 40 sq feet, but it is in need of an overhaul.
