Doing it yourself?

We have a 3/4 bath in our basement that we are going to be remodeling, but hiring out the pros to do it, as we'll be moving plumbing, and we want a designer's eye on this thing.

In the current process of redoing our entry way closet. It was a colossal POS. I think the original "paint" from the 60's, with one big wooden shelf and a wooden bar for coats. Painting now and and building a shelving system. Now if there was only a way I could find some sort of rack for my wife's 9000 pairs of boots

Curious if anyone has ever had a tankless water heater installed? If so, what was the price range, and do you think it's worth the cost?

Can you put a price on instant hot water?

My aunt has one and from what I've heard it's pretty fucking awesome.

If I never ran out of hot water I don't know if I'd ever leave the shower.

Had to buy a new washing machine today. Our front load washer died. Front load washers suck, we went back to a top load.

I said this very same thing about a year ago, and Spike accused me of being a Debby Downer.

yeah but who pays attention to spike?

I really hate how you can't stop the machine easily to add something once you've started it on a front loader. Looking forward to be able to say "oh crap, I need underwear, throw this in quick" with the new top loader. We bought an extra capacity one, so should be nice.

About a month ago, the machine stopped draining (we bought it about 3 years ago). I did some research, and learned that there's a filter at the front of the machine that occasionally gets clogged up. And it's a complete pain the ass to disassemble, drain, clean, and put back together. Most people call the plumber or a repairman. And it's not covered by a warranty. Evidently this is pretty normal. Who the hell makes a machine that, for 90% of the users, requires a repairman to come and clear a drain filter?

Yeah last night I had our front loader torn apart completely in a last-ditch effort to save it. Cleaned all hoses, pipes, tubes, belts, plugs, whatever. Still wouldn't spin. Apparently bad motor. It is 10 years old so I guess I can't complain.
