I don't know who Bill Hunter is, but it should be Bill Singer on my team.

I actually wasn't going to run so many platoons until I noticed these numbers:@SkitchP wrote:look at all those tasty platoons. well done!
OPS vs. LHP
Frank Robinson - 1.153
Willie Mays - 1.112
Edgar Martinez - 1.018
Yikes.
Not to mention Dick Dietz (1.166 vs. LHP) could very well get some playing time at catcher (though Piazza's is 1.032) and 1B.

Re: LCS Era Baseball Tournament: SET YOUR ROSTERS!
I did take Fernandez. When I was putting my team together, I realized his 1985 season (not the one I'm using) has him as A+/A+ defense. I looked through everyone I could think of, including Ozzie, Ripken, Simmons, Robinson, etc. and that's still the only A+/A+ season I've found.@SkitchP wrote:Lament wrote:Didn't phil take Tony Fernandez?
did he toward the end? maybe

I noticed a lot of it early on in my draft research. A lot of time the difference between very good players and all time hall of famers is simply the platoon splits. The hall of famers are more consistent against RHP and LHP, the simply great players might only be good against one. So I figured since the hall of famers are in short supply, I might as well focus on very good players and seasons with crazy good splits, which is why I essentially got every guy I wanted after round 8.
The problem is I have absolutely no idea how well it will work.

vs RHP vs LHP
1969 Sal Bando r 0.827 0.992
1985 Henderson r 0.83 1.142
1989 Johnson B 0.97 0.847
1969 Jackson l 1.101 0.884
1972 Fisk r 0.899 0.929
1983 Whitaker l 0.86 0.789
1991 Franco r 0.822 1.05

1975 Harrah r 0.861 0.864
1975 Tenace r 0.775 1.043
So obviously the numbers are good both directions, but even these great seasons have pretty obvious splits.

I just ran a bunch of sims against a couple different teams, including yours. I've got 7-26. This isn't looking good.

I think the only ones I did against you were our LHP lineups with McDowell vs. Caldwell.@SkitchP wrote:Which pitchers did you run against?philpritchard wrote:I just ran a bunch of sims against a couple different teams, including yours. I've got 7-26. This isn't looking good.

One game, I lead off the game with back-to-back-to-back HR and lost. Another, I came back from a 10-0 deficit only to lose it in the 9th inning. These would be heartbreakers if they counted.

Caldwell has been pretty solid for me in my sims.

I went about .500 against him, which is encouraging.

Guys, we should all be making two teams so to make the lefty and righty lineups easier on Lament.
