Several times over the last couple weeks, my thoughts have returned to the idea of Pearl Jam, Inc. holding a Hawaiian travel destination sweepstakes called "Vacay Is the Word," featuring lawn seats to a Hawaiian amphitheater show, a tour of Boom's childhood neighborhood, and surfing lessons with Eddie's surfing instructor's apprentice. Entry fee of $200. This should happen.

I would probably consider Radiohead as my favorite band, but why is it that when I see articles about Thom Yorke soundtracking a runway show at Fashion Week, it doesn't bother me in the slightest? But EV plays a show for some CEO's birthday and donates the proceeds to a charity, I think he's a sellout? Is it because I attached some sort of teenage/young adult ideals to Ed that he lived by 20 years ago, but no longer?

It bugs me that that bugs me.

I think that is exactly that. We, errr I, just felt so passionate about it in very formative years of my youth.

Wasn't sure where to put this, so this seemed as good a thread as any...

http://news.yahoo.com/pearl-jam-donates ... 35398.html

They announced today that the donation comes out to $100K.

In related news, Brazil's new favorite Pearl Jam albums are S/T, Backspacer and Lightning Bolt.

The band's take for the show was only $100,000? If there were 40,000 people there, that works out to $2.50 per ticket, or something like only 3-4% of the ticket sales. Gotta be more than that, right?

I might have seen the wrong official number so don't quote me.

Incidentally, I'll be returning the gift horse I bought you for Christmas.

It's the Vitalogy Foundation amount that's listed on every ticket.
