Check the stats. 'Special' songs don't get played at festivals.

That's what I was saying. Of the earth is diarrhoea. Hard to imagine is Pj heaven. They only have maybe three other songs that approach that space. And even that's a big maybe.

I'm not comparing the songs' qualities, I'm just saying it's the song that keeps getting re-recorded and re-recorded for multiple albums that it never fits into, fans will call for the band's collective heads on a stake to release it, and will probably end up being released on a movie soundtrackbodysnatcher wrote:Of The Earth is the new Hard To ImagineTheDapperGent wrote:Time flies. Hard to imagine personifies pearl jam. It is their national anthem. Far more than alive or release or even given to fly. There isn't a song by this band that does what this one does. And there never will be at this point. Bit extreme but find one and make your point. You'll lose.

"Hard to Imagine" is a fine song, but I think you're exaggerating a bit.

This is pretty accurate...even if i dont think is that important, is such a gem in their catalogue that it cant be compared with other songs, specially Of the earth.dimejinky99 wrote:Hard to imagine personifies pearl jam. Re: 10th album rumors and speculation
I like it a lot, but I agree with McParadigm's opinion that it's kind of half-baked from a compositional standpoint. Beyond that, though, if it's that unique in their catalogue (which I agree that it is), how could it possibly personify the band? It's kind of an anomaly in their oeuvre, so how could it define them?

There's a huge unquantifiable in there. Whereas most other pj songs can e dissected, this one evades it. It's got something no other song has. They caught lightning in a bottle to borrow the phrase.
