Mad Season with Chris Cornell and a symphony on Jan 30th

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

I still think "Reach Down" is about as good as Cornell ever got as a songwriter. To think that it's pre-"Badmotorfinger" (I think) is crazy.

Temple is great, but to say that Cornell peaked with Reach Down is nuts. It's a great song though and definitely carries a lot of meaning.

"Like Suicide" isn't anywhere near one of my favorite Cornell songs.

In discussing "songwriting," I'm talking about the "writing" as much as the "song" -- there is an eloquence and depth of craft to "Reach Down"'s lyric that for my money Cornell rarely achieved with Soundgarden. He paints a picture that is at once very surreal and, based on what we know about the circumstances of the song, very poignant and honest. Most people at RM seem to be of the "lyrics don't matter in rock music" mindset, but they mean a lot to me, and this is a high point for Cornell, especially since the music supports it so nicely, simply sitting back and gives the narrative room to breathe and flow -- it's not all dissimilar to the writing on "Ten," really, except that this is much more articulate than anything Eddie was capable at the time.

Like Suicide is great but it's not even the best song on that record.

Speaking of Temple, when the fuck are they going to reissue TOTD?? It's been like 25 years already and it could use some touching up, with a careful hand. Plus I'd love if they released Black Cat and Angel On Fire with it. Angel On Fire could be one of the most underrated Cornell songs IMO.

BTW, on the topic of Reach Down, I've had the album since the early 90s and the vocals at 8:40-9:25 are still

I think the production of that is pretty amazing. Sonically, BOB can be nice but he'd never try anything as non-mainstream as that.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Oh I think the production is great, too. I just wouldn't mind a proper remaster to beef up the sound a bit so it doesn't sound as dated--emphasis on "proper"! 8-)

It already sounds fine to me, I think a remaster would almost certainly make it sound worse.

I know at least 2 full YouTube sources have surfaced, but has anyone seen a FLAC source? Or mp3?

Not yet. I'll check zomb in a bit.

The video that (I'm assuming) Andy Wood's old girlfriend Xana took that I posted is almost too close. It feels kind of invasive.
