Alone is a great song, but 20+ years out and Why Go is still an exciting listen

Re: D1 Round 1i: Alone vs. Why Go
Alone was always a bit too jarring for me to truly enjoy it.
The drums in Why Go have always got my juices flowing.

Yeah, Alone is amazing. Love the guitar. How many different versions of this song are there?

In terms of recordings:Leatherhead wrote:Yeah, Alone is amazing. Love the guitar. How many different versions of this song are there?
- The "First Week Rehearsals" demo from October 1990, this hasn't been officially released.
- The 1991 recording from the Ten sessions with Dave Krusen on drums, this is only available on the leaked Sony "Rarities & Unreleased Cuts" disc (this is my favourite version).
- The 1992 recording with Dave Abbruzzese, this was released on the Go single.
- The Lost Dogs version, this is the 1991 recording with new vocals recorded in 2003.

Re: D1 Round 1i: Alone vs. Why Go
Not sure I've heard the First Week Rehearsals version or the 1991 recording with Krusen. But between the 1992 release on the Go single and the Lost Dogs version, I think I prefer the lesser liked LD version, as I think Ed's muted vocals and omission of that awkwardly worded verse improves the song.Birds in Hell wrote:In terms of recordings:Leatherhead wrote:Yeah, Alone is amazing.
