Give OB a bigger piece of the RM pie - DeLima for Mod 2015

Delima, as mod, would you have allowed this GD thread to remain in OB? And if not, would you have:

A: moved it
B: locked it
C: deleted it
D: consulted a more senior mod about what to do.

Please justify your answer.

Hello, stip. Nice to see you around these parts.

As mod, I would allow this thread to remain in OB for a week or two for the following reasons.

1) The general reputation/post history of the thread starter. If DeLima were known as a grade A shit disturber around RM, I'd be more likely to move it sooner. But since DeLima generally does not tend disturb shit without rhyme or reason, I would give him the benefit of the doubt that there is a rationale behind his admittedly unexpected interest in modship and the ways he chooses to express this interest.

2) The thread makes sense in OB because part of DeLima's platform is helping the more music-focused posters of the board whose primary interest no longer lies in Pearl Jam's musical output but who still love the board and enjoy the community here feel more represented. As the thread is a kind of reaching out thread in this sense and OB posters are the intended audience/base of the thread starter's support, I would respect the intent behind starting the thread in OB and leave it there for a couple of weeks.

That said, after two weeks has elapsed I would move the thread to GD, thus giving the intended OB audience time enough to view the thread but ultimately placing it where it belongs and ensuring that the focus of OB remains on music.

you are right to take the posting history of the poster into account. However, you should also factor in the state of the thread and its potential for humorous or interesting discussion. If a thread was off topic but already fairly far along (in a way that isn't causing any real problems) it is more reasonable to allow it to continue. If there are only 1-2 posts it is much safer to take action.
