A promising young drummer enrolls at a cutthroat music conservatory where his dreams of greatness are mentored by an instructor who will stop at nothing to realize a student's potential.
Saw it last night. Phenominal. J.K. Simmons was scary as hell. Easily reminding you of the teacher that intimidated you the most throughout your school life.
Only 2 things that bugged me:
-When what I'm hearing and seeing don't match up, it drives me nuts. The average person might not notice but as a drummer, when I see a stick hit a piece on the kit, I expect to hear that piece, not a cymbal or any other sound that doesn't line up with what I'm being shown.
-2 words: drummers gloves. In the movie, it's a big thing that the drummers have blistered/bloody fingers from playing so hard, which I get, is symbolic. Still, every drummer knows they're out there, so just fucking wear them!
Helluva movie anyway.
