Jazz=Black People is a very poor place to start from, with regards to this movie, jazz music in general, basically anything. It's an unhelpful generalization that has nothing to do with the history of jazz. This movie isn't even, at its heart, about jazz, IMO.

Like I said, just a minor part of my trepidation before seeing the movie, but for all I know, it's a non-issue in the film itself. We'll see.
