I though Skyfall was good, but not great. I grew tired of that final action sequence and was a little disappointed by Bardem's performance. I really enjoyed that some of the Bond back story was revealed and the opening musical sequence was stellar. I enjoy DC's stoic Bond portrayal, but I agree with nah, in that I think it limits the character.

when i came into this thread i only had an issue with skyfall. i am now adding your incorrect critique. his one liners were flat. maybe in a theater people would chuckle but not in my domicile. his take on the character? please don't even. his acting can't gel with the deeper interpersonal issues they were going for. when he squeezed his lips tighter did you really feel his backstory? dc can do action but don't ask me to believe anything past that.

i like the idea of bond. to me he's more timothy dalton and sean connery than pierce brosnan. To me dc can't pull off the intelligent suaveness i like in the character. i don't remember quantum of solace but i don't recall disliking it. so dc can deliver action and I can enjoy that. but the ride they tried to take me on in this film was too over the top. what happened with the list of agents? did they get it back? it's not dc's fault they went the direction they did in this film and the utter absurdity of the premises.

I don't think he pulls off the comic side of Bond as well as either Moore or Connery. I miss the Bond smirk. I also never really felt like there was any added depth to him after being shot or after we hear about his back story and go to Skyfall.
To be clear, I like DC's portrayal, I just think his take on the character is a little limiting.
Even with my quibbles, I think Skyfall and Casino Royale are clearly two of the best Bond movies ever made.

I've only seen it once, but didn't they talk about neutralizing the list? The first five names were released, and at least one guy killed, but I thought after that, and after Silva's "capture" they were able to erase or destroy the list.

I thought the list was kind of a red herring anyway.

The plot is far from flawless, but there was nothing in it that pulled me out of the experience.

Baz's take on Gatsby could be awful. He's not a flawless director. In fact, as we all know, he can be downright dreadful. And there's no way I'm seeing the thing in 3D. No way.

I take back part of that statement. Yes, the story touches on important themes about America. I'll say the last page of that book is remarkable, but the whole plot getting there didn't grab me.
