The Garainals are a damn machine.
I wish you would've saved some of them for when you played me.numbers wrote:I'm getting sick of these splits.

Re: LCS Era Baseball Tournament: DAY SIXTEEN RESULTS!
There will be a day off in between days eighteen and nineteen. On day nineteen, all rotations will be considered fully rested. Unless you tell me otherwise, I will go back to the first starter in your rotation on day nineteen. Also, from day nineteen on, each day is a home-and-home, and not two games at the same ballpark.

Nice... today's split sets me up perfectly to finish the season. Seven straight sweeps gets me back to .500 and then I have four days left to chase down a playoff spot.

Re: LCS Era Baseball Tournament: DAY SIXTEEN RESULTS!
Everyone send me your updated stats after Day 18. We'll use the day off to get an updated leaderboard out.
I just updated my stats for the first time in 5-6 days and Piazza and Boggs continued to dominate despite my team continuing to be a disaster.
Boggs had a game where we was a single away from the cycle. That would have been fun.

I've been keeping my stat sheet in my drop Dropbox folder so that link I sent you before is continuously up to date.

Re: LCS Era Baseball Tournament: DAY SIXTEEN RESULTS!
Righetti & Franco combined: 7.66 ERA, 0 for 2 in save opportunities, 2-4 record
Eckersley, Lyle, Quisenberry, & Smith combined: 0.37 ERA, 7 for 7 in save opportunities, 2-0 record
Also, I meant to mention this the other day, but I had a game where Barry Larkin got tossed in the first inning for arguing with an umpire. I know we've had games where managers got ejected, but have we had players get ejected before?

Re: LCS Era Baseball Tournament: DAY SIXTEEN RESULTS!
Luckily Ozzie Guillen stepped in and went 2-4 with 2 RBIs.
Surprisingly, Larkin has been my best offensive player so far (.319/.400/.588, 8 HRs, 8 doubles, 29 RBIs, 26 runs). Rose, Molitor and Bonds have also been excellent. The shitty performances have all come from spots you'd expect me to get production from. Canseco and Rice have both been super disappointing in their turns as the third outfielder. Mattingly and Clark were both bad enough at first that I moved Molitor there to give Matt Williams a shot at third, but he's been bad too. I guess I either give Ventura a shot at third, or move Molitor back there and see if either Mattingly or Clark can do better in another go-around.

Dave Winfield got tossed on day two for arguing balls and strikes.

Re: LCS Era Baseball Tournament: DAY SEVENTEEN RESULTS!
Nothing like a trip to play the Garainals to bring my winning streak/momentum to a crashing halt.
Gaylord Perry with a 14 strike out, 5 hit performance in game two. Unfortunately four of those five hits were home runs.
Going with Steve Carlton instead of Dwight Gooden with the #3 overall pick may be the single move that most keeps me out of the playoffs. Carlton has been very disappointing (3-3, 4.71 ERA, 1.59 WHIP). Statistically speaking, he's my worst starter.

My best starter's ERA is 4.68.Lament wrote:Carlton has been very disappointing (3-3, 4.71 ERA, 1.59 WHIP). Statistically speaking, he's my worst starter.
I wonder what kind of inputs WhatIf uses for pitchers. I waited until relatively late to start picking pitchers, but I still thought I would be OK because I picked some guys who had spectacular seasons. Blyleven has the second highest single season fWAR of any pitcher of the era (behind only Carlton) and he's been a disaster with an ERA over 9.
