I know they basically play the same set every night give or take a few songs, but I love the way SG structures their set list.

BHS is a great song, no doubt. I just got tired of hearing it after a while, that was all. It's always kind of been their Even Flow. It's a killer song, I just OD'ed on it over the years.

Birth Ritual in Melbourne.

I'd seen people saying it was tuned lower, I don't think that's true - it sounds to me as though it's in the same key as the original, it's just that Chris is singing a totally different vocal melody that's easier on his current voice.

(Personally I think that's a much better choice than how Pearl Jam tackles these issues where they keep tuning lower to accommodate Ed but the musical impact of the song is weakened in the process. It's always going to be something of a trade-off but I think this works much better.)

Given how he's generally sounded over the past 5 years I thought he might be able to pull off the original vocal melody

That "cigarette before the execution" part in "Birth Ritual" seemed like it was a stretch for him even on the studio recording.

Oh, mine too, precisely for that reason. When a guy like Cornell circa '92 has to really reach -- ans when he hits the note he's aiming for -- it sounds superhuman.

"Birth Ritual"' is one of my favorite Soundgarden songs, and bears the distinction of being one of a handful of songs to introduce me to the idea of non-album B-sides. My love for that song runs damn deep.

I wish people would stop clicking on that site for news. All that guy does is scan other music sites for anything that fits his definition of "Grunge" or "alternative", then reposts the information.

I can believe there will be a new album in 2016...but I won't believe it's actually coming out until they announce it.

Ha I have no argument there, that site is full of shit 90% of the time. Here is the original source--I should have posted this the first time: http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/mus ... 3gr3f.html

I hope a few treats from these side shows make it into Saturday's set. But to be honest I'll be happy with whatever + Birth Ritual.
