IF THE COMPUTER IS RECOGNIZING IT AND ITUNES WANTS TO RESTORE IT, WHY DO I GET A BAD USB ERROR!?!?

I'm really getting fucked by this whole "uninstall QuickTime" shit. I'm still on Windows Vista, and the version of iTunes I have requires QuickTime to run. So I tried to get the new version of iTunes so I can uninstall QuickTime...and it only works with Windows 7 and up. So now I have no idea what to do.
