Some cool stuff has arrived in the past few days, but I haven't had a chance to listen to any of it yet. Including:

Hum - "You'd Prefer an Astronaut"

She thinks she missed the train to Mars....shes out back counting stars....

That was, by far, my favorite song of the 1990s for years and years, but without an internet to Google the lyrics, I didn't know the name of the artist for years after I first heard it, and I don't think I heard the song until the early 2000s. It's been a while since I've listened to the whole thing, so I'm ecstatic to spin this (probably tomorrow).

Is it a reissue? They were a pretty great, often underrated and forgotten band.

Probably a dumb-dumb speaker question, but I don't care:

I've always had speakers that have wire connections like this (and my receiver has connections that match them):


A few weeks ago my father gave me some speakers from his old system, and the connection in the back looks like this:


Will I need new speaker wire to connect these to my system? Will it even be possible to connect them to my current setup, do you think?

For those of you in the New York area with free time today, J&R is having an amazing overstock sale. A bunch of new records clearanced at $2.99. I picked up 10 albums today. Sure, there are a ton of copies of Aerosmith's "Room Full of Mirrors", but I managed a good killing, for me, anyway.

Well yeah the vinyl came out on RSD, I thought you were talking about knowing something about it becoming available online as well
