I don't think it's any coincidence that my favourite Pearl Jam songs since 1998 are largely those Matt has written (Evacuation, In the Moonlight, Cropduster, Unemployable, etc.)
I seem to find it a lot easier to enjoy songs where the band adapts to Matt's more cerebral musical sensibility than him trying to find a way to work into theirs.

Really? I've always found Jack's drumming in "GTF" to be critical to the calming, gentle rumble of that song's verses. I don't think any of the Matt-era versions -- fine though many of them have been in their own regard -- come close to achieving that feel.stip wrote:he would have made GTF and DTE better, though.
