Hartline has been sucking since he got the big bucks..

He's blacker than the black guys which leads me to believe he was laying out on south beach all day

The Dolphins cutting Hartline was surprising, considering they might do the same to Mike Wallace now that they're waking up to the fact that they grossly overpaid him. I had to look up who else they had at WR and I forgot they drafted Jarvis Landry last year.

EDIT: I was going to edit in that I also forgot about Brandon Gibson...and then I saw that the Dolphins just cut him too. What on earth are they planning to do at that position?

Tannenbaum will continue the Dolphin's great tradition of much-heralded free agent signings that amount to 9 losses and a shit ton of dead money.

This is my recurring nightmare. God, I hope not.

Not surprising at all. They saved $7.35 against the cap this season by cutting a guy who had 400 yards receiving last year and should have been benched by the end of September.

I think it's still 50/50 on Wallace.

Miami had the highest paid receiving corps last year. Bad contracts all over the place. When they cut Hartline and Gibson apparently Matthews (our #5 WR) asked to be cut. He's the only good contract at the position, so the team correctly said no. So, at least there's that.

Landry and Matthews both looked decent to me when I watched the Dolphins. And I've liked Charles Clay for a while as well.

He made his request after they made the other 2 cuts. Supposedly he and Philbin don't really have a good relationship.

But with his contract and a lot of turnover at the position we should keep him.

I'm tired of winning the first day of free agency. That doesn't work. We overspend on a couple of guys and end up with a thin roster that either has no depth or glaring weaknesses at other spots. This signing would represent my worst fears of hiring Mike Freaking Tannenbaum, just another idiot that loves big names. This franchise is turning into that team in your fantasy league that you can take advantage of in trades just by dangling a big name in front of them. Sigh.
