"Daughter" is the zenith of the early PJ "Eddie-free-verse-over-Stone-riff" writing style. "Animal" is an okay groove but it's outclassed here.

God, this round is so hard. All my favorite songs fighting each other.

What to say here? I don't know. I once played Daughter in my church's youth group when we were supposed to play and discuss our favorite songs. The leaders didn't get the concept of Ed singing in the voice of a woman and made fun of me and the song.

They were wrong about that, and the existence of God.

I get sick of Daughter, and often times forget what a great song it is. For me though, Animal is like high school sweetheart and I'll always have a soft spot for it.
