The "Hard to Imagine" vs. "Of the Earth" debate prompted me to throw on the Hyde Park 2010 show, which is the only recording of "Of the Earth" I own. Standard objections to 2010-era Pearl Jam (downtuning, vocal limitations, quality of bootlegs, etc.) still more or less apply, but if you can meet them halfway this is a pretty smoking performance by the band, even though "Given to Fly" as an opener doesn't really do the trick for me. "Of the Earth" sounded awesome, though--and if the proper studio version everyone is clamoring for is going to be given the same sonic treatment as "Backspacer" and "Ole," I'd almost rather they left it alone. I don't object to that sort of thing on principle but I can't imagine the kind of ragged, belligerent mayhem of this version being the sort of thing that would be improved by polish.
Also, the "State of Love and Trust" from this show was one of the few unequivocally good selections for "Live on Ten Legs." For a song that's generally pretty underwhelming live these days, this version is a scorcher.
Not having listened to much PJ the last few months this was a mighty enjoyable listen.

I threw on Boston 2010 not so long ago and was surprised by how much I really enjoyed it. That surprised enjoyment then prompted me to put on an 09 show. First I tried Chicago, turned it off, then I tried Salt Lake city, turned it off and gave up. Boy was that a bad tour. It sounds like Ed is putting absolutely no effort in and it rubs off on the rest of the band big time. 10, 11, 12 have all been leaps and bounds better than 09 imo.

ACL 09. Classic.
I have that one on cd too, but it was too late. I'd already lost my enthusiasm for trying out an 09 show. Though I do often listen to the Melbourne 09 boot because it's a show I attended and always enjoy it. I remember the Adelaide one being pretty cool too but I no longer have it.

Salt Lake City is a great show, but not the best of the tour. You should have put on Auckland or Christchurch...two of the best shows of the past 7 years.

I have SLC on cd, I don't have any of the NZ shows even digitally.

Ridgefield, LA IV, Melbourne and Brisbane are pretty awesome too.
