Not to be a worry wort, but I've had orders from SSD canceled before, and for much less-limited releases.

On a similar note: looks like "What's Next to the Moon" is getting a RSD vinyl release.

Was that the e-mail from today? It's been up since yesterday, according to VC. Are you registered there? It's great for Koz-related vinyl news.

Quality control.
yes, but how? how do they prevent a wrong side being pressed? they're a middle man, a store, and not the source. they can't open and listen to every record, and it sounds like yours is a relatively unique case- nothing mentioned of this issue on their forums or their facebook that i have seen.
They are responsible for the product. End of story really.
sure, and i expect they will resolve it for you but certainly they can't be blamed for the pressing? being disgusted with them for receiving something they had no physical capability of knowing about seems misguided. now, if they DON'T resolve this for you, then yeah, that'd disgust me as well.

i dunno, no big deal or anything. your first message was just STRONGLY WORDED that it was strange to me to be upset with them for this type of problem.

and my question has to be, HOW does something like this happen? i've never heard of anything like having a complete side be from the wrong album entirely. how does it get placed on the wrong press during this process?

any chance you've figured out what WAS pressed on that side?

Are records ever pressed at different facilities? For instance, the majority of FJM's album was pressed at one plant... but some specialty stores and sites use different presses for their runs?

If it was a smaller run of records for just Vinyl Me (or whoever), I can definitely see a press accidentally using the wrong master for one side... just a complete human oversight. It probably happens one out of a million times, this just happens to be that once.

I've gotten the wrong album's liner notes in a vinyl package once :haha:

this seem reasonable, though in this case it appears start's issue is fairly isolated and not problematic of the entire vmp fjm release. maybe something like the presserman takes the lp and goes to the left stamper instead of the right one and doesn't realize his mistake (or does and doesn't give two shits). on second thought, that scenario is just stupid and not well thought out seeing as its just one side of the lp that is affected and not both. the side b master had to have not been switched in/out yet.

maybe strat has a one-of-a-kind vinyl. maybe he got lucky and side b is unintended-for-mass-release outtakes by a famous band or something.
