I know I'm being pretty liberal and there is more for these guys to prove until they retire but I think each of those guys talent is incredible. I'm not sure how the hall will look at the increased focus on split backfields and pass catching of modern backs though.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.

Maybe. the thing that could hurt him is that he played in a couple places during his prime. Which in and of itself isnt a huge problem, but it kinda hurts him that he wont have a singular group beating the drum for him.

I agree with you. It's a shame though, because he's put up some fantastic numbers over the years.@SkitchP wrote:cutuphalfdead wrote:

Beltre the Dodger, Beltre the Mariner, Beltre the Red Sox, and Beltre the Ranger- none of them are a Hall of Famer. The collective Beltre might be, but thats a harder sell.. and now he is still a very good player, but is he just starting the become an accumulator?

If he continues doing what he's been doing since his resurgence in 2010, he'll have that 7 year window of dominance that they look for. Also, he's going to end up with more than 3000 hits.

Accumulators are generally viewed as the guys who continue to play once they've outlived their usefulness on the field and pad their counting stats. It sounds crazy because he's about to turn 36, but, offensively, at least, Beltre is still in his peak.@SkitchP wrote:cutuphalfdead wrote:I agree with you. If he retired right now, I would say he should be in but wouldn't stand a chance. If he hits a few traditional milestones, he'll get it.
As long as Rolen gets in first.

Reading the earlier posts and on what planet is kurt warner not hall of fame worthy
He went from a grocery store or some shit to pitting up insane numbers and taking 2 of the shittiest franchises in pro sports to the superbowl.. winning it with one.. a rams team that was like 500-1 odds coming into the season
Also isn't it the pro football hof so his arena stats factor in??

He will make it in eventually. Most of his numbers compare quite favorably to other quarterbacks. The only big knocks against him I see are his playing time (125 games out of 224 over 12 years) and his TD to INT ratio isn't superb (208/128).i got bugs wrote:Reading the earlier posts and on what planet is kurt warner not hall of fame worthy

If he had more than 4 full seasons he probably would have been a first ballot.

Probably eventually. Safeties have a hard time getting in. It can also be argued that Brian Dawkings and Ed Reed were just as good, if not better, than Troy. It may be a long wait.Green Habit wrote:

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. I'm biased, but in addition to Reed and Dawkins I'd also consider Atwater and Lynch. Safeties have way too much of a problem of getting into Canton.Thejambi wrote:Probably eventually. Safeties have a hard time getting in. Re: Will he be a Hall of Famer?
Dave Winfield the Padre is not a Hall of Famer. Dave Winfield the Yankee is far from a Hall of Famer. I really don't think Beltre playing for a few different teams means shit at all.
Belt's lifetime WAR should end up in the 85-92 (Chipper Jones, George Brett and Wade Boggs are some comparable folks there) range if he plays a few more years. He will have 3,000 hits. Close to 500 dingers. One of the best defensive 3rd baseman of all time. That is a hall of famer. Probably like 2nd or 3rd year. Who knows though. Peter Gammons....that is who fucking knows! Or Keith Law.

Polamalu will be helped by the fact that he has a two SBs, a DPOY win and is like 5x All-Pro, but yeah, they screw over defensive backs pretty bad in general.

Leroy Butler hasn't sniffed the HOF, despite being on the Pro Football Hall of Fame's 1st team All-Decade squad for the 90s.Orpheus wrote:but yeah, they screw over defensive backs pretty bad in general.

Re: Will he be a Hall of Famer?
The NFL hall of Fame is weird. As odd as the MLB hall of fame is the NFL takes it too a new level. It's almost like they want to keep guys out. Look how long it took Tim Brown and Will Shields. Arguably two of the best of all time at their positions. It took Art Monk forever to get in. Guys like L.C. Greenwood, Mark Stepnoski, Neil Smith, Steve Atwater and Ken Stabler should be in. Biggest omission for me is Kevin Greene. Only Bruce Smith and Reggie White have more career sacks.
I'm on the fence about guys like Tony Boselli and Terrell Davis. So good and so dominant but for such a short period of time. Boselli might be the best OT I have ever seen. I can see those guys getting in before guys like Greene, Greenwood, Smith and Atwater. Which is weird because they did not have anything close to the longevity of those guys.

Getting there for sure. If he has like 4-5 more great years he is in I bet. I hope his arm holds up and all of these innings don't catch up to him. I mean he is durable as fuck butBammer wrote:Felix
Felix already has a higher career WAR than Vida Blue and Felix is only 29. Better career FIP at this point than Steve Carlton. Better career WHIP than Roger Clemens. That is ridiculous.
