If we end up with ten teams, we can probably do up to a 72 game schedule (play everyone eight times). With 12 teams, we would probably do 66 (play everyone six times).

The other option is that we try a different set up with two conferences/divisions and figure out a schedule from there.

I don't know. Thoughts?

How many games do you plan on simming per day, phil? For your sake, it's important to strike a good balance.

I was thinking everyone plays two per day against the same team. My only concern is that I'm not sure I'll be able to do them on the weekends

If you do two games a day, you'll save yourself a lot of time by having the same home team for both.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the Bruins' play right now. Tonight's game is going to do a lot to show how ready they are for the playoffs.

I'm hoping the Bruins get the Lightning in the first round and knock them out, while the Habs cruise past the Wings... setting up another Canadiens-Bruins 2nd round matchup.

We are, and I really need to get on posting the details, don't I?

We do, however, have southp taking part, and he's a real live Habs fan, so you may have to stick with the Stars and/or find a different team.

I think the Stars would actually be pretty solid, especially if you include the Minnesota years. Take the '98-'99 team, add in some Benn, Seguin, Broten and Ciccarelli, and you're good to go!

Also, if anyone wants a second team, just go ahead and pick one and we'll go from there. It shouldn't be too hard; I don't think there will be much in-season maintenance since you have relatively little control over who plays. You just pick your starting lineup and goalie each game.

To recap:

1. Me - Toronto Maple Leafs
2. Skitch - Detroit Red Wings
3. Lament - Pittsburgh Penguins
4. #BRL - Dallas Stars
5. numbers - Boston Bruins
6. Kaius - St. Louis Blues
7. TBAMTS - Chicago Blackhawks
8. Mecca - Buffalo Sabres
9. southp - Montreal Canadiens

We definitely want an even number so teams don't have to have days off, and I'm ok with anywhere up to 16 teams (which would probably make for a 60 game schedule), but 12 teams/66 games is probably the most realistic. I'm definitely up for making a second team.

I figured there was a Canadians fan that existed around here. The Sabers are my fave Eastern Conference team. I'd rock a Sabers team if needed but looks like mecca has that. Pretty sure we know who his goalies will be.

That is essentially what I did. Def added Broten (on the 1980 USA team so I had to) and a couple guys from the Stanley Cup team that lost to the Pens in 91. Totally forgot Ciccarelli. Ughh! The 98-99 team alone was very talented top to bottom.

I did not know anything about hockey until the Stars moved to Dallas. I went to a game when I was 13 in their first year. That and NHL 94 for Sega got me hooked. I knew and liked those teams very well. I added Russ Courtnall, Dave Gagner, Ulf Dahlen and Andy Moog. This will be super fun.
