I want to go back circa 2010 and ask how many people could have guessed that the Raiders' starting backfield would be Derek Carr and Latavius Murray, with their backups being Christian Ponder and Trent Richardson.

I've heard several people speculate (since we don't fully know Borland's background) that it was an "easier" decision for him because he may have privileges and advantages that other players don't, in which they need football to make a good living. Makes you wonder exactly how far this trend will go.

Yerp. This is going to be a really interesting thing to keep an eye on and examine.

So Bernard Pierce got arrested for DUI, and the Ravens promptly cut him. A part of me says "good on them", but let's be honest, if this had happened to Joe Flacco there's no way the Ravens would have cut him. I'm starting to consider that it may be more prudent to place the player on leave instead, solidify the facts, and then mete out appropriate punishment. It's a double standard to let the stars skate and let the backups go. Though I'm sure Terrell Suggs is quite happy for that double standard.

That said, I should lighten up this post a bit with this:

Cowboys signed Greg? Hardy today and thus the selective morality of the NFL continues.

There are a ton of conditional bonuses and incentives in his contract. I wish he had a "sensitivity program" bonus put in there as well. :shake:

And while we're on the subject, I will also shame the Titans for signing Perrish Cox for $5 million a year. Fuck that guy.

I know that was the game at that time and everything, but a little weird that the Eagles chose a picture for this of a famous extreme football concussion.

its one of the most iconic pictures in the history of the nfl

bednarik will forever be known for his toughness and grit playing both sides of the ball. and its not like he was a skilled position guy, he played center and linebacker. my god, what an animal. RIP. truly the last of his kind.

It definitely is. And given the current climate, I suspect the NFL wishes it weren't.

From one perspective, McDonald and Jenkins are both low risk high reward 1-year deals that add depth to the defense and, along with the other low key FA acquisitions, help get the team in position to take BPA in the draft. The new GM has shown some patience so far. He thus far shows to understand that building through the draft and not free agency are the road to a championship.

In the 3-4, they won't be needing him to get sacks, that's what the LBs are for. When they shift to the 4-3, he will be a tackle. He's a versatile guy to take up bodies and space.

But they did move it to Chicago. So, at least they changed SOMETHING. Which is the only requirement, it seems.
