Probably my favorite season. Mulder was such a smug, condescending, temperamental dickhead early on. But he had to be. Love it!

"X-Files" Close To A Limited Series Revival?

There's been talk of an "X-Files" TV revival for some time now, and it appears all that discussion is coalescing into something more solid.

In January, Fox TV Group chairman Gary Newman revealed that creator Chris Carter was in talks with the network for a new run of the show. On top of that, original stars Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are onboard.

Today, TV Wise reports that Fox TV is close to giving an official green-light to a revival of the series after having settles on a 'short-stack' order, basically a limited event series like "24: Live Another Day".

The exact number of episodes has yet to be determined, though it certainly seems to be under ten episodes and could be as few as six. This would also get around the scheduling issues with the actors such as Duchovny with NBC's "Aquarius" and Anderson in both The BBC's "The Fall" and NBC's "Hannibal".

Just read about this. I'm in, especially if Chris Carter is involved. :nice:

We posted at the same time...this is great to hear. I think six episodes is just enough.

Is the cigarette smoking man still alive? He was old back then, might be dead now. Hopefully they tie up the storyline nicely. 6 episodes should be enough as long as there are no stand alone monster of the week episodes.

William B. Davis is still kicking; he's an acting teacher in Vancouver.

I'm only happy to believe because it's just a six episode run. Nice and short.

Yeah, this is essentially the third movie that Carter wanted to make. But now he gets to expand it and really take his time. I'm actually pretty excited about it. But I also really liked the second movie, too.

I was a huge fan of the X-Files. I've seen every episode probably multiple times. But I'm wary because I think they may try to "outdo" themselves, just as I am wary about the Twin Peaks return.

Fringe, on the other hand, was also good and still kind of "fresh" for the times we live in. But I was happy with how that ended so I was kind of kidding about bringing that back.

Plus I don't want whats-her-name to have diminished roles in Hannibal or The Fall just because she has to do the X-Files now. She is great in both of those shows.

Reading Reflections: An Oral History of Twin Peaks, I'm more certain than ever that the new season of Twin Peaks (provided David Lynch does sign on and does direct each of the 9 episodes) will be as good if not better than season one. I'm 100% on board.

The X-Files has a bigger chance of being a dud. But I'm still excited about it. I should probably temper and shift to a cautious optimism for my own sake. But, I think it'll be so much fun to see another adventure of Mulder and Skully.
