first record I bought on my own although I'm pretty sure I had bought a number of 45s before that.

first CD was probably this one but I'm not sure:

at the time, the plastic case for CDs were packaged in large pressed paper boxes with the album cover art printed on them to make them more like record covers. I cut out the images and taped them on my bedroom wall :D
