Tried to keep a 5min/km pace in a 5k run.
1 km 4:47
2 km 5:14
3 km 4:44

Managed that and then my body broke down. Maybe next time.

Run up to the TV Towers at South Mountain. Left achilles is tender, so I took it easy. Up in 65 minutes. Down in 51.

Road was packed with cyclists as usual. Actually saw probably 10 other runners. There was a group of 4 people doing hill repeats on the last nasty climb. They looked miserable as it was about 80 degrees at 10:30. The down went better than expected. Kinda fell into a nice groove where I lengthened my stride a little and didn't fight the downward momentum. 9 minutes off my last run on this course, but that was a balls out effort that turned into a race and was about 20 degrees cooler.

10 miles in 80 minutes

Legs feel shitty and my achilles is fucked. Kinda surprised that yesterday's run beat me up so badly. Supposed to run the toughest 50 miler in the country in 6 weeks and I can't do a 15-15 weekend. LOL.

Bad week. 10-hour days at work.

15 in 1:57 on Tuesday. 10 miles in 78 on Wednesday. Total meltdown on Thursday and walked home from the turnaround on my normal 10-mile route. Doesn't help that we hit 90 degrees this week. Ugh.

Nice runs Friday, Saturday and today have me feeling better about my running. 10 in 75 with two kids in the stroller on Friday, 10 in 70 yesterday and 15 in 1:48 this morning. No real hill work in more than a week, however. That's a pretty big problem considering my race has 12,000 feet in elevation gain.

10 on Tuesday and Wednesday, then a 14-mile hike yesterday and another 10 this morning. Gonna do morning-evening doubles on Saturday and Sunday. Planning on 5 minutes run/5 minutes hike on the ups for my race, so I'm gonna do one 3-hour hike a week. Luckily, I have a ton of comp time at work.

10 in 68 on Saturday. Then A.M./P.M. runs on Sunday, both 10 in 69. I promised my wife that I would start wearing sunscreen on my runs. I fucking hate it so much.

Same here. Asics.

My usual loop is about 3 miles. Once or twice a week on average.

Some of you people are runnin' freaks.

After a first quarter of logging solely outdoor miles and a first treadmill training run of 10+ miles I thought it time to get serious:

5/31 OutRUN Branford Half
7/31 Pottstown Half

Feels good to get signed up and the calendar inked.

1. Pasta
2. Fruit (Bananas, Apples, Berries)
3. Rice (This is kinda controversial for runners. A lot of people see rice as mostly "empty calories", but it has fueled me well.)
4. Salmon
5. Veg (lots of Broccoli for me, Kale added to canned soups)

Kid had a sleepover Friday night. We had 9 seven or eight year olds in the house. Fucking nightmare. Got 6 hours of sleep. As soon as the last little fucker got picked up at 10:58, I went for a 7 mile pace run. It was windy as shit, but I was euphoric. 6:57/mile pace. Holy shit, I am starting to resemble an actual runner!
