Scott Weiland

Post by daft twat »

He and his band the Wildabouts put out a new album called Blaster today. It's actually pretty good. Unfortunately, his guitar player died last night. What the fuck?

I loved 12 Bar Blues, thought Happy had some moments, and after listening to Blaster this morning, joke comparisons to a three-time murderer aside, this album is pretty damn good. I saw him earlier in the year (thanks only to a $15 cover), which gave me some low expectations for this record.
I'm pleasantly surprised. He's still got that melodic gift that is so often overlooked by critics and fans alike.

Circles and Hotel Rio are cool, but he needs the DeLeos' riffs behind his vocals to really make an impact.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.

Is really great. Those guys were already doing pop songs in 1996.

I remember they had a huge tour planned after Tiny Music dropped and Scott fell off the wagon or something and being bummed it was cancelled. I saw them live finally though in 2008 and they were awesome. STP is really slept on I think. I have heard from some they sucked live but when I saw them they were great. Meat Puppets opened. Great show.

I saw them three times and each time was the best one. But their studio work is fuckin A. Specially records like Tiny Music.

Scott Weiland in his prime is hard to fuck with. I saw them on the No. 4 tour, and a couple times on the Shangri La tour and he was out of his fucking mind on stage. He owned the arena and every person in it. The band has always been really tight. I saw them in 2008 as well. Still very good but the magic was gone imo.
It really is a shame to see how far he's fallen now, playing to crowds of 200 people, just waiting for him to say something stupid so they can talk about how fucked up he was. That's why it's nice to see him put out a decent record. I'll always root for the guy.

Saw hi with velvet revovler in like...2004? Excellent show. He was classic Weiland slithering around the stage.

word. I saw him with VR and he was a fantastic frontman. I've enjoyed pretty much everything he's ever put out. People can diss him, but he is the reason all of his bands were great.

Sounds like I should actually give the new album a spin--I totally forgot it came out this week. I wasn't really impressed at all with the first single, but despite all of Weiland's issues (and there are plenty), I've never been able to write him off. STP was just too good back in the day (VR had it's moments, too). Still Remains may be one of my all-time favorite tunes. I can't quit you, Scott.

How do you rank it next to the Christmas album?
