Tracks 4-6 Stretches

This was surprisingly interesting. You get a diverse set of songs each time.

1. Binaural (Light Years > Nothing as It Seems > Thin Air)

Every single one of these songs is top-shelf PJ. Not a slouch in the bunch. Hard to beat.

2. Vs. (Glorified G > Dissident > W.M.A.)

I would say these are all middle-of-the-road when it comes to Vs. songs. But Vs. is my favorite PJ album and I love every song on it, so...

3. Ten (Why Go > Black > Jeremy)

"Why Go" is one of my favorite PJ songs and they only things I can fault "Black" and "Jeremy" for is overexposure; it's hard to deny that they're PJ at their finest.

4. Riot Act (Cropduster > Ghost > I am Mine)

All great, particularly "Ghost".

5. Yield (Given to Fly > Wishlist > Pilate)

Here's where things start getting a little dicey. GTF is great and "Wishlist" is one of my favorite PJ songs, but "Pilate" is one my least favorite PJ songs. This one hits two out of three.

6. Vitalogy (Tremor Christ > Nothingman > Whipping)

A very mixed bag. "Tremor Christ" is one of the absolute best things PJ has ever done. "Nothingman" is a fairly uneventful and unexciting soft track that has never done much for me. "Whipping" is enjoyable enough, but pretty low in the canon of Vitalogy rockers - I'd rather listen to STBC.

7. No Code (In My Tree > Smile > Off He Goes)

IMT is PJ at their best. "Smile" is very solid. But this group is weighed down by "Off He Goes", which is even less eventful and exciting than the aforementioned "Nothingman" (See, Eddie? This is how you use the word.), and is made even worse by its brutal length.

8. S/T (Severed Hand > Marker in the Sand > Parachutes)

"Severed Hand" and MITS are both fine but unremarkable. "Parachutes" is one of the best PRAMG songs.

9. Lightning Bolt (Sirens > Lightning Bolt > Infallible)

"Sirens" is very bland. I don't even remember "Lightning Bolt". "Infallible" is decent.

10. Backspacer (Johnny Guitar > Just Breathe > Amongst the Waves)

"Johnny Guitar" is just okay. "Just Breathe" is the single worst song in PJ's catalogue, and ATW isn't much better.

1. Ten (Why Go > Black > Jeremy): As LV said, the only issue here with any of these songs is 24 years of listening to them. Black and Jeremy are genre defining, and Why Go, despite the immaturity of the subject matter, still hits as hard as ever thanks to the passion of the performance. This is my number 1 but a fair bit


2. Vitalogy (Tremor Christ > Nothingman > Whipping): Tremor Christ is Tremor Christ. Nothingman is another song somewhat dimished by age but still very beautiful. Whipping is diminsihed by the titans it hangs out with, but on almost any other album it would be a standout rocker.


3 Lightning Bolt (Sirens > Lightning Bolt > Infallible): Although none of these are ever likely to be full fledeged classics, all very strong songs, and a nice 1, 2, 3 punch that flow really well together

4. Yield (Given to Fly > Wishlist > Pilate): I like Pilate, but it's definitely a step down from the two stellar songs before it, and probably kept Yield from the 2 spot.

5. Riot Act (Cropduster > Ghost > I am Mine): I am mine is a favorite, and cropduster and ghost are two of the stronger songs on Riot Act.

6. Backspacer (Johnny Guitar > Just Breathe > Amongst the Waves): All good songs, but none are top shelf.

7. Vs. (Glorified G > Dissident > W.M.A.): See Backspacer--further diminished by the fact that these are three of the weakest songs on Vs, so their shortcomings are magnified.

8. S/T (Severed Hand > Marker in the Sand > Parachutes): Parachutes is excellent. Severed and Marker are good, but probably not as good as any of the runs above it.

9. No Code (In My Tree > Smile > Off He Goes): In My Tree is excellent. Smile is okay. Off He Goes is not.

10. Binaural (Light Years > Nothing as It Seems > Thin Air): Nothing As It Seems is a near great, but the two surrounding it are not.

Whipping lets this team down.

Yield: Given to Fly - Wishlist - Pilate
Pilate does the same for this team.

Lightning Bolt: Sirens - Lightning Bolt - Infallible
Surprising placement for this team. I really like Sirens, and LB and Infallible are both fairly good.

Binaural: Light Years - NAIS - Thin Air
Three solid, enjoyable songs. On another day, this might pop up a couple of places.

Vs: Glorified G - Dissident - WMA
Never liked Dissident, and the other two, while enjoyable, aren't amazing.

Backspacer: Johnny Guitar - Just Breathe - Amongst the Waves
Amongst the Waves is dross. I like the other two, but they're merely enjoyable.

S/T: Severed Hand - Marker in the Sand - Parachutes
Never liked Marker, Severed Hand is fine, but feels like it lacks something (possibly a production thing). Parachutes is great.

Cropduster - Ghost - I Am Mine
No surprise here. There's only 2-4 songs on Riot Act I even bother listening to any more.

Given to Fly - Wishlist - Pilate
I fucking love those 3, and they're not even my favorites from Yield

Tremor Christ - Nothingman - Whipping
This is an unpopular opinion, but Nothingman is probably my favorite song in Vitalogy, Tremor Christ is also one of the best things this band has done. Whipping is pretty good.

Light Years - Nothing As It Seems - Thin Air
I love the first 2 songs, Thin Air hasn't aged that well for me, but I still really like it

In My Tree - Smile - Off He Goes
IMT and OHG are some of the best songs from this album. Smile, while not one of my favorites, is great too

Glorified G - Dissident - WMA
I fucking love Glorified and Dissident, I know they are usually seen as the weakest songs from Vs but they are some of my faves, I'm not the biggest WMA fan tho.

Severed Hand - Marker in the Sand - Parachutes
S/T is an underrated album, Parachutes is one of my favorite songs ever by this band. MiTS and SH are solid too.

Cropduster - Ghost - I am Mine
Cropduster is the best song from Riot Act, Ghost is up there too. I've never really liked I am Mine.

Why Go - Black - Jeremy
Why Go kinda sucks. Black and Jeremy are great songs but I really dont feel like listening to them anymore.

Sirens - Lightning Bolt - Infallible
None of these are great, but these 3 songs are actually pretty nice, one of the strongest parts of Lightning Bolt.

Johnny Guitar - Just Breathe - Amongst the Waves
