It's hard to compare such different eras but early to mid 50's Sawchuck was probably just as good if not better. But i would have no problem givin gthe nod to Hasek.

Hasek is far and away the best goalie I have seen. Granted my hockey knowledge only goes back two decades. As a staunch Red Wings hater it was annoying see Hasek play for them (not to mention Derian Hatcher, Modano, Hull, ugh) but that play was sweet and I'm glad he won a cup. The Dominator was just incredible. Like in ace in baseball when he was out there if his team got 1-2 goals the game might just be over. I will never forget the 1998 Winter Olympics. Just carried them to the gold. Czech pride, baby!

am i crazy or were the bruins a flawed team before the season started? why are people (in the region at least) shocked they're fighting for a playoff spot?

2 reasons: I think people thought Rask could carry them, and--even though he's been good--riding him just isn't working. Also, core players have missed significant time due to injury.

But, in general, I think you're onto something. Without Iginla--30 goals last year, don't forget!--and Boychuk/Thornton--the heart of the "big, bad Bruins"--they didn't have the same profile to start the year. I do think they could do some damage in the playoffs, but it's going to be a haul to get there.

Watching this Senators surge is just annoying. I don't have any real rivalry-hatred for the Sens, but if I have to hear about the "Hamburglar" one more time...

I'm more excited about where the C's are headed.

While I'm not shocked about the Bruins, I do believe they are playing below their talent level and should have a much stronger grip on a playoff spot vs. fighting for one.

Lots of great games on tonight.

Habs-Wings.... Detroit looking to clinch a spot, Montreal looking to claim 1st in the Atlantic
NYR vs. Sens.... Even an OTL Sens can jump into the final wildcard spot over the Bruins, while playing the Rangers who would be their 1st round opponents
Bruins vs. NJD.... I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm actually pulling for the Bruins to make the playoffs rather than the Sens. The term "lame duck" comes to mind.
Jets vs. Avalanche... Jets can clinch a playoff spot for the first time since the relocation
Flames vs. Kings.... a Calgary win with a Jets win would eliminate the Kings I believe.
