If I could pull that off, I totally would.

Who am I kidding? No I wouldn't. My wife would divorce me.

I've said before that my ideal personal style is somewhere between a Decemberist and a Mad Man.

I have the hair, I just can't grow a beard to save my life.

Saw them on their previous album's tour and it was awesome. This year they're playing Osheaga, so I'm going to skip it.

Yes, sir. I saw them at the beginning of April at the Beacon Theater. Is was amazing. They keep getting better and better. And they had such a wonderful energy after their hiatus. It was awesome.

They are in my neck of the woods later this month. I should go.

DO IT

Seriously. The time off really helped them. Their playful energy is like brand new. And they're tighter than they've ever been, musically. There's a wonderful focus and laid back quality to the show. It's precise and playful. I can't recommend it enough.

did you ever get a chance to catch them on either the Picaresque or Crane Wife tours? those probably were my favorites.

but you're right, they sound really good on this tour.

I've seen them at least once on every tour since Her Majesty. And I adored those Picaresque shows. Big time. Petra added so much depth to their music and whimsy to their stage show. I wish she was a permanent part of their touring band.

i saw them in 2004 the day after i moved into my condo in lakeview. my buddy dragged me there because his girlfriend broke up with him. i had no idea who the decemberists were, but after the show (met the band), i was hooked.

1. Leslie Anne Levine
2. The Bachelor and the Bride
3. The Engine Driver
4. Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect
5. July, July!
6. Billy Liar
7. Odalisque
8. Los Angeles, I'm Yours
9. Grace Cathedral Hill
10.The Tain

Encore:
11. Red Right Ankle
12. The Legionnaire's Lament
13. A Cautionary Song
14. Everyday Is Like Sunday

That's a fucking baller set. I've seen The Tain twice (well, three times if you count the time I snuck in and watched them sound check it before the venue realized I wasn't supposed to be there). Such a great GREAT thing of beauty to see live.

I saw The Tain when they toured with orchestras back in 2007. They had the Chicago Symphony Orchestra backing them for it, and I remember how that was probably the highlight of all the times I've seen them live.

That would have been something special. Did they still switch instruments during it, with the orchestra?

So I got the 'Florasongs' EP about two months ago.

Just now listened to it.

Holy shit!

These guys are on their game.

Fits & Starts is still my favorite non-album track. But Why Would I Now? and The Harrowed and the Haunted are also super awesome! Holy crap! Stateside is pretty great too. :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:
