I have yet to see this but want to. Love The National. Is the film available for purchase?

Great setlist. Love Afraid of Everyone and Vanderlyle is a great closer.dimejinky99 wrote:Saw the national last night. Fucking epic gig and a killer setlist.

While I don't agree with everything (e.g., Blank Slate), this is actually a really solid list:

Re: The National
Rank the albums!
Here's mine...
1. Boxer. (Perfection - an album that will stand the test of time)
2. Alligator. (When it's good, its gold dust...)
3. Trouble Will Find Me. (Suffers a little from the "Samey" new sound - but the songs themselves are stronger than ever)
4. Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers. (Underrated - and I do love how varied this album is - "Available" compared to "Cardinal Song" for example)
5. High Violet. (I know this is low, and its good - but it feels cold and steely to me. Some songs are just plain dull - see "Anyones Ghost")
6. The National. (Not bad, but only 3 or 4 very good songs.)

Don't mind the above top 10. I think I'd have to have Driver, surprise me in the top 3. And a live version of vanderlyle, although its a bit tokenistic now, the first few versions I saw and heard hit me hard.

New song, apparently a holdover from the Trouble Will Find Me sessions:

what rational human being would spend $150 to buy 8 LPs of the same song played over and over?

Re: The National
There are at least a couple of people on Vinyl Collective who have ordered it already. If the price were lower, I'd think about it. I think it's a bit inflated for the charity aspect.

Re: The National
I said I'd think about it!
You know how sometimes jazz or instrumental music hits the spot because you've got something to work on, but you don't want to be distracted? I think the same song for 6 hours would approach that kind of fugue state.

Re: The National
If this were St. Vincent or Courtney Barnett, Joey and Zeb would be all over this.
