Well that was a mess. Its not bad but..it tries too hard to be a cool and deep movie and it fails.

Ed Norton was awesome. It gets a little too meta for its own good, but I still enjoyed it. The continuous camera was neat, too. Its a very pretty movie.

I looooved this movie! Not a single dull moment for me, it had me smiling and mesmerized from start to end. Amazing acting by everybody, bold direction with superb edition and just drums soundtrack. Clearly above The Imitation Game and American Sniper, the academy got it right.

Funny how we perceived things so differently. it successed in every aspect for me, It seemed messy, but it was quite cohese in its apparent mess, kinda like jazz drumming.

Ah thanks. I was reading the old posts of this thread, and yeah, I agree with you that the Iñarritu has a very in your face style, like Wes Anderson also does. Moonrise Kingdom was the movie that Anderson style felt to me to fit perfectly, without feeling heavy handed. And I got the same feeling with Birdman, the in your face but not heavy handed, something quite rare.

finally saw this and i loved it, already bought the dvd. i wish i had seen it earlier in the theater. not sure i am totally on board with the final shot, however i have nothing but high praise for the rest of the movie. despite being very excited and wanting to see this when it was released, i never got around to a theater showing, so watching it now after having read all about it and seeing the acclaim it had received i was afraid my expectations might be at an unreasonable level and come away unhappy. glad to say this wasn't the case, and i certainly wouldn't call it an overrated film. it's a great movie.
