No, just super rushed and disjointed.

Seems weird that in an age when studios can't wait to split movies up into trilogies, they want to cram as much as they can into this one movie.

They want to catch up to Marvel but they want to do it in a single movie.BurtReynolds wrote:Seems weird that in an age when studios can't wait to split movies up into trilogies, they want to cram as much as they can into this one movie.

I'm pretty much sick of superhero movies and I've been reading comics since before I could read. Just put a bunch of money into a monthly episode series and wrote better stories. The movies almost always feel neutered.

Re: Movie: Superman vs. Batman (2016)
The idea of Batman & Superman in the same movie still does not interest me. Superman & Wonder Woman? Fine. Aquaman too. I just see Batman as separate universe.

Why does every single action/scifi/comic movie use that overbearing drone noise? It's gotten ridiculous.

Re: Movie: Superman vs. Batman (2016)
DC should realize that the tone they're aiming for doesn't work with demigods that can punch through mountains. Batman can get away with this as a stand alone entity because grit makes sense in a world where someone can kill you with a bullet or a lead pipe, and where getting beaten half to death and getting up again is a metaphor for social resilience and the possibility of eventual redemption. When Thor and hulk get dropped/shot off of helicarriers no one expects them to be seriously hurt, which is why they are light hearted spectacles punctuated by occasionally serious moments to help define the casual feel of the movies by contrast.
DC got this ass backwards in superman, and they're gonna do it again here. The presence of batman isn't going to make this better.
I liked watchmen quite a bit, and the tone of the film, but it only worked because dr. manhattan doesn't ever really fight anyone. He's a presence lingering over the story reminding everyone else of their insignificance.

Re: Movie: Superman vs. Batman (2016)
Does this change if Superman turns evil and lays waste to a town? Then Batman, indeed humanity, is in dire straits against an insurmountable adversary. I speculate that Lex finds a way to turn Superman evil in attempt to demonstrate what a danger he is to Earth. And then we find out what a danger he is to Earth.stip wrote:DC should realize that the tone they're aiming for doesn't work with demigods that can punch through mountains. Hard for Supes to get more dangerous to the planet Earth than he was in Man of Steel.B wrote:Does this change if Superman turns evil and lays waste to a town? No, because Batman can and should in no way be able to oppose him. If the story was helping people in gotham survive superman that would be different. Then it's a disaster movie.B wrote:Does this change if Superman turns evil and lays waste to a town? Then Batman, indeed humanity, is in dire straits against an insurmountable adversary. It would be like if there was a movie about a tidal wave leveling a city, but instead of helping people escape the hero just punched the tidal wave to death.
Which sounds kind of cool, but probably would get old real fast.
