Regardless of how well they do this year, it's a reall exciting time to be a Cubs fan right now.spike wrote:didn't realize the cubs called up addison russell already. also, kris bryant is tearing it up.

I wonder how long it will take for pitchers to stop throwing at/behind Jose Bautista.

Re: MLB
I should probably add: baseball players are hilarious. Bautista and O'Day have a history/rivalry going back a couple years. The other day, O'Day threw a pitch behind him, Bautista responded by homering later in the at bat and doing a little mocking skip as he rounded the bases. A few days later, the Jays are blowing out the Orioles and an Orioles pitcher again throws behind Bautista. Bautista again responds by hitting a homerun, and he really takes his time leaving the box, glares at the pitcher, flips his bat, and proceeds to have a shouting match with a few Orioles as he rounds the bases (one that continues as the inning ends). The next inning, Delmon Young hits a line drive to right that Bautista scoops and fires to first to try to get him. The Orioles again yell at him for trying to show them up.
Adam Jones later says that Bautista needs to "respect the game". Good to know the Orioles are picking up the "Playing the Right Way" torch.
Watching your homerun for too long = bush-league
Throwing at a batter = part of the game

I hadn't really noticed that about them until recently. The whole yelling at Bautista for trying to throw Young out at first thing was amazing: trying really hard to get someone out is, apparently, "disrespectful".numbers wrote:The Orioles are one of the worst "guardians of the game" teams.
Some players and teams just love the unwritten rules of the game because they're so easy to make up as you go along.

Wasn't it an O's player who started a thing with the Yankees by doing Joba Chamberlain's fist pump as he rounded the bases?

They threw at Sandoval over the weekend because he broke up a double play at 2nd.philpritchard wrote:I hadn't really noticed that about them until recently.
